Exclusive: Josh Segarra has joined the cast of Fox’s medical comedy Best Medicine, starring opposite Josh Charles and Abigail Spencer. The series, based on the popular British series Doc Martin, will go into production this summer in upstate New York.
Best Medicine is a one-hour comedy series that centers on Martin Best (Charles), a brilliant surgeon who abruptly leaves his illustrious career in Boston to become the general practitioner in a quaint East Coast fishing village where he spent summers as a child. Unfortunately, Martin’s blunt and borderline rude bedside manner rubs the quirky, needy locals the wrong way, especially local school teacher Louisa Glasson (Spencer); however, tenacity is the creed of everyone in their small village, and the people who live there may be exactly what the doctor ordered.

As the saying goes, No Good Deed goes unpunished. Amid a day when the cancellation axe has already cut down the comedic murder-mystery The Residence and the medical procedural Pulse, Netflix is also hitting the pause button on its darkly comedic anthology series, according to Deadline. The show, which featured a bevy of talent led by Lisa Kudrow and Linda Cardellini, has been waiting for an update since its first season dropped back in December, and it was becoming clear that the news would not be good when it arrived. Fortunately, there is a ray of hope as, while there are currently no plans for a sophomore outing, sources have said that a second season is possible in the future with a new cast and an entirely new story.
Part of the reason for the indefinite pause likely came down to the lukewarm reception to the series from audiences. Although...

Lisa Kudrow and HBO aren’t letting the Friends star’s cult comedy go without a proper goodbye, and so it is that The Comeback is getting revived for a third and final season. The series, created by Michael Patrick King and Lisa Kudrow, celebrated the 20th anniversary of its launch earlier this month, making today’s news monumental for fans. The revival speaks to the show’s lasting appeal, Kudrow’s endearing screen presence, and HBO’s desire to bring a familiar face back for more much-needed laughs.
The third and final season of The Comeback heads to production this summer for a 2026 HBO and HBO Max debut. In The Comeback, Lisa Kudrow plays Valerie Cherish, an ex-a-list celebrity attempting to rekindle the flame of her once prominent acting career with nothing but a camera crew and some determination.
“Valerie Cherish has found her way back to the current television landscape.

Father-son duo Jack and Denis Leary knew from the very beginning how they wanted the set of the Fox military sitcom “Going Dutch” to feel.
“One of the things that we were all adamant about was we wanted, especially the core group [of actors], to be able to do the pages but be able to improvise,” Denis told TheWrap during a new installment of How I Did It, presented by Fox. “So live on set we would be doing what was written and then immediately starting to play with [it].”
Denis Leary stars in “Going Dutch” as Colonel Patrick Quinn, a decorated U.S. military officer who is reassigned to the least important Army base in the world, after going on an offensive rant. Appalled by the leisurely ways of the base, he begins to reshape it to his liking, only to run into resistance from his estranged daughter Maggie (Taylor Misiak), the base’s former commanding officer.

MTV launched on August 1, 1981, famously charging out of the gate with The Buggles' hit song "Video Killed the Radio Star." It was pretty presumptuous and cheeky for the suits at MTV to assume that their new network was instantly ripping apart an old media landscape, but they were eventually proven somewhat right. MTV became, for a prolonged spell, a brand new cultural fulcrum for Gen-x youths. The network didn't just randomly showcase hip music videos — a medium that exploded in popularity thanks to MTV's machinations — but carefully curated them, allowing viewers to appreciate certain genres, labels, or artists they may not have known otherwise. Some early MTV explorers may recall 1983's "I.R.S. Records Presents The Cutting Edge." Hosts would introduce blocks of videos and even take requests. The term VJ entered the pop lexicon.
Also, to round out their programming blocks, MTV ran multiple news segments and documentary shows, updating...

Sylvester Stallone's 32-Year-Old Action Movie (With Long-Forgotten Jack Black Cameo) Heading to Tubi
Tubi is once again proving why it's one of the best streaming services available. The free streamer will add a beloved Sylvester Stallone action movie to its catalog next month.
Beginning June 1, Demolition Man will be available to stream on Tubi. Stallone headlines the 1993 sci-fi action movie as LAPD Police Sergeant John Spartan, with Wesley Snipes co-starring as the psychopathic criminal Simon Phoenix. After Spartan unintentionally causes mass casualties and destruction while attempting to apprehend Phoenix, both men are sentenced to be cryogenically frozen in 1996. The rest of the movie takes place in 2032 and sees Spartan unthawed to stop Phoenix, who escaped during a parole hearing. Despite mixed reviews from critics, Demolition Man was a box office success, grossing $159 million worldwide.
Sandra Bullock, Nigel Hawthorne, Benjamin Bratt, Denis Leary, and Bill Cobbs also star in Demolition Man. The movie is also notable for featuring one of the earliest big-screen appearances of Jack Black,...

A week ago, Your Friends & Neighbors star Jon Hamm got a real inkling that his character Andrew “Coop” Cooper is an antihero viewers hate to love.
“I was at the upfronts last week and Denis Leary was there,” Hamm related during an FYC panel for the acclaimed Apple TV+ series at the Hollywood Athletic Club, recalling his very first encounter with the famously abrasive actor-comedian. “He goes, ‘Hey, Hamm! You're a f--king a--hole, and you are on a show with a bunch of f--king a--holes, and I'm watching you and you're around these a--holes and you're the biggest a--hole — and yet I f--king love you!’”
Hamm, who was joined on the panel by series creator and executive producer Jonathan Tropper and costars Amanda Peet and Olivia Munn, considered Leary’s amusingly over-the-top but insightful take. He concluded that there's something inherently, undeniably compelling — relatable, even — about Coop’s dilemma:...

When "School of Rock" debuted in 2003, it felt as if Jack Black just came out of nowhere to assert himself as one of the best comedic stars of the early 2000s. A man with his outsized charisma seemed like he could march into a Hollywood studio and charm the execs into giving him a leading role, and that's very much how it felt for kids who saw his breakthrough family comedy. In reality, of course, things didn't quite work that way.
Black's breakout role actually came three years prior with 2000's "High Fidelity," after which he showed up in films like "Shallow Hal" and "Orange County" before gifting us all with the unendingly charming classic that is "School of Rock," becoming a superstar in the process. He's remained in the spotlight ever since, most recently by leading the box office smash that is "A Minecraft Movie." But if you cast...

Meet the Makers: Going Dutch and Animal Control
There are plenty of similarities to be found between Fox’s two live-action comedies, Joel McHale’s “Animal Control” and Denis Leary’s “Going Dutch.” Both are single-camera workplace comedies with characters in uniform: A quirky group of animal control workers in Seattle on “Animal Control,” and a quirky group of U.S. Army soldiers stationed on a tiny Netherlands base on “Going Dutch.” Making things even more personal, McHale’s “Community” co-star Danny Pudi now stars opposite Leary on “Going Dutch.”
So how about a crossover inside the Fox comedyverse? “It makes perfect sense,” Leary said during the Variety FYC TV Fest. “The guys who are the creators of ‘Animal Control’ are guys I’ve worked with before. Great writers. And we actually discussed it at some point last year. So let’s talk Fox into it. But Fox hasn’t mentioned it.

Michelle Pfeiffer at Christmastime? No, it’s not a “Batman Returns” sequel, but it may be just as campy. The beloved actress who recently (finally!) received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is leading Michael Showalter’s holiday feature “Oh. What. Fun.” alongside a slew of It-indie actors.
Pfeiffer plays matriarch Claire Clauster, whose perfectionist tendencies always make for the best Christmases. However, when her kids forget about their own mother over the holidays, she’s forced to reflect on priorities. The official synopsis reads: “Claire is the glue that holds her chaotic, lovable family together every holiday season. Fox Entertainment’s upfront presentation to advertisers was a star-studded affair that began with Jamie Foxx mocking Elon Musk and President Donald Trump, and ended with Joel McHale popping a bottle of champagne with a prop knife in Gordon Ramsay’s honor.
At one point in between, Tom Brady flubbed a stunt pass to Rob Gronkowski so bad, the ball landed among the Madison Avenue execs. (That was not long after Gronkowski took a shot at his and Brady’s 73-year-old former coach Bill Belichick for dating 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson.)
Held Monday at the Manhattan Center in New York, the event showcasing Fox broadcast network’s 2025-2026 schedule — as well as programming across ad-supported streamer Tubi, Fox Sports and Fox News — kicked off with some jokes from “Beat Shazam” host Foxx.
“It’s been a hectic few weeks for me,” the actor said. “But truly I wanted to be here.

In some respects, Fox delivered the most traditional upfront presentation anybody is likely to see this week. Executives and talent kept the focus on live sports and news, all of the men wore suits and there was nary a mention of a subscription service. Even if they have one.
In other respects, the Monday afternoon program was a postmodern odyssey — as evidenced by 95-year-old Rupert Murdoch, seated in the fourth row with son Lachlan and members of the proletariat, nodding his head along to Jay Z’s “Public Service Announcement” as Jamie Foxx came on stage to deliver an impression of President Donald Trump mispronouncing “Tesla.”
And that was within the first five minutes.
Denis Leary told the Boston Celtics fans in the Manhattan Center audience to “fuck off” as a Knicks pep rally grew outside the Madison Square Garden adjacent venue. David Letterman was lifted in the air, a la Jennifer Grey,...

Colonel Quinn is staying put for the 2025-26 TV season. Fox has renewed Going Dutch for a second season. The sitcom's first season of 10 episodes finished airing in March.
A military comedy series, the Going Dutch TV show stars Denis Leary, Taylor Misiak, Danny Pudi, Laci Mosley, and Hal Cumpston, with Dempsey Bryk, Joe Morton, and Catherine Tate in recurring roles. The story follows arrogant, loudmouth U.S. Army Colonel Patrick Quinn (Leary), reassigned to the Netherlands after an epically unfiltered rant. There, he is punished with a command position at the world's least strategically significant army base. It’s notable for its Michelin Star-commissary, top-notch bowling alley, lavender-infused laundry, and the best (and only) fromagerie in the U.S. Armed Forces. Exclusive: The Masked Singer has been renewed after producing an incredible 13 seasons and more than 170 episodes since it launched on Fox in January 2019.
This included a number of seasons produced under strict Covid protocols with the music competition guessing game, which has aired one season at the start of the year and one in the fall, never missing a run throughout the pandemic.
However, Deadline understands that this is about to change with the show eschewing its traditional fall 2025 season and planning to return for Season 14 in January.
The news comes as the Season 13 finale is set to air tonight. This season has featured the likes of Cedric the Entertainer, Oscar De La Hoya, Aubrey O’Day, Scheana Shay, Flavor Flav, James Van Der Beek, Candace Cameron Bure, Method Man, Erika Jayne, Matthew Lawrence and Edwin McCain. Four celebrities have yet to be unmasked – those performing as Boogie Woogie, Coral, Mad Scientist Monster and Pearl.

Seattle's favorite Animal Control office won't be shutting down just yet. As expected, Fox has picked up its flagship live-action workplace comedy series starring Joel McHale for a fourth season, meaning more animal-based antics are to be had with Frank Shaw and his rag-tag team of fellow officers. The series has continued to be a hit both critically and in terms of ratings for the network, being sold to over 70 international territories and more than doubling its live + same-day ratings thanks to streaming on Hulu. It'll be back in time for the 2025-26 season, locking up Fox's comedy slate with the also-renewed Going Dutch.
Through three seasons, Animal Control has followed the jaded and cynical Frank (McHale) as he learns to embrace life as an animal control officer after being fired from the police force for trying to expose corruption in the department. Fortunately, he is almost supernaturally capable of understanding animals.

Going Dutch is returning for a second tour of duty. The freshman Fox sitcom has been renewed for a second season at the network. Deadline reports that both Going Dutch and its network stablemate, Animal Control, will be returning next season. The series' first season is now streaming on Hulu.
Deadline reports that although the Denis Leary-led series' ratings were not spectacular, the fact that the series is produced and owned by Fox may have played a part in the network's decision. Fox is also selling the series internationally; unlike many sitcoms, it is an international production, with a military base in Ireland standing in for Garrison Stroopsdorf, the fictional US Army base in Holland that serves as the show's primary setting. Additionally, Going Dutch and Animal Control are the only live-action sitcoms currently on Fox. This may also mean that Fox may not order any new half-hour comedies for the upcoming TV season.

The 1998 movie can be seen as a spiritual successor of sorts to Dante’s Gremlins series — as little sentient beings run amok on an unsuspecting group of people in a small town and it takes a plucky young hero, with his own little ally, to try to contain and destroy them. He and the base’s soldiers engage in comic hijinx, but they’re never making fun of the Army.
“I know we’re supposed to be funny but we’re also supposed to be soldiers,” Leary said. “We’re all dressed that way. Even if we’re just in the hair and makeup trailer, generally we’re in our uniforms. It’s a constant reminder.”
Leary developed the show as executive producer with creator Joel Church-Cooper. Leary said detail is so important to him, he insists on acoutrements the audience will never see.
“There are certain props the audience will never see that I want my character to have with him,...

Fox veterans The Simpsons, Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers have never really been on the bubble because first, they remain strong performers for the network, and secondly, due to the longer lead time needed in animation, they would always get an early renewal. That was taken to a new level this year as all three, along with American Dad!, returning to Fox after an 11-year run on TBS, have just been given four-year pickups, keeping the 20th TV Animation-produced comedies off the bubble list for the foreseeable future.
Also safe are the two Fox-owned animated comedies, Krapopolis and Grimsburg, which are not as strong in the ratings as the three long-timers but still bring eyeballs while also making money for the network via international and streaming sales. Krapopolis, now in its second season, already has been renewed for a fourth season. Grimsburg, also in its second season, is expected to be renewed for a third,...

Sitcoms have a harder time than ever to really catch on to what the public wants. It's sort of a genre stable that viewers need a few seasons to get to know the characters and storylines they'll be enjoying. Unfortunately, the market is so competitive today that it's almost impossible for many new sitcoms to survive past one season. Many fresh and hilarious comedy shows have fallen by the wayside only because of low viewership, leading to a show's eventual premature cancelation. On top of that, no other sitcoms have it harder than the ones on network television, such as Fox's brand-new sitcom Going Dutch.
Going Dutch was created by Joel Church-Cooper and stars Denis Leary alongside a massive cast of hilarious characters in a show that seemingly fits Leary's charismatic and brash personality to a T. The show premiered right after the New Year on January 2, 2025, and was met with positive reviews.
