Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin — founding keyboardist Claudio Simonetti’s modern manifestation of prolific Italian prog-rock composers Goblin — are hitting the road to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Dario Argento‘s Deep Red.

The band will perform the score live to a screening of the film at eight stops across the US, preceded by five Suspiria shows in Canada. Each show also includes a short set of other classic Goblin songs.

The tour culminates at Future Ruins in Los Angeles, where they’ll appear alongside the likes of John Carpenter, Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross, Danny Elfman, Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein, and Howard Shore.

“Dead Man’s Wire” was already in production when Luigi Mangione fatally shot UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in December 2024. But you’d be forgiven for interpreting it as a reaction to those events. The film — director Gus Van Sant’s first since “Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot” in 2018 — takes place in the 1970s, another decade when dissent fueled by economic stagnation exploded into politically charged violence. But its sympathy for its aggrieved antihero feels very current.

“Exploded” can be taken literally here, as Tony Kiritsis (Bill Skarsgård) rigged his Indianapolis apartment with homemade munitions when he took his mortgage broker, Richard Hall (Dacre Montgomery), hostage there for 63 frozen hours in February 1977. This was in addition to the device that gives Van Sant’s movie its name, a wire that was attached to the trigger of a shotgun on one end, and looped around Hall’s head on the other.

Gus Van Sant is in top form with Dead Man’s Wire, a riveting true-crime dramatization of a hostage incident from 1977, during which Indianapolis man Tony Kiritzis, claiming that his mortgage broker had deliberately sabotaged his real estate investment, kidnapped the company president and rigged a sawn-off 12-gauge shotgun with a hair-trigger wire connected to his own neck. Forty years ago, Paul Reubens and Tim Burton took viewers on a ride to remember with Pee-wee’s Big Adventure.

The film centers on Reubens as titular Pee-wee Herman, whose hunt for his stolen bicycle leads him to the Alamo. As a member of the L.A. comedy troupe the Groundlings, Reubens developed the childlike character and played him in the 1980s in live stage shows, an HBO special and appearances on Late Night With David Letterman. “It dawned on me that I could actually become Pee-wee Herman,” Reubens told THR in 2020 about his alter ego.

During a run of sold-out performances, the comedian landed a deal with Warner Bros. to write a Pee-wee feature. While on the studio lot, Reubens noticed people riding bikes and asked for one of his own. After being taken with the refurbished 1940s Schwinn he was given, Reubens retooled his movie to focus on the bike.

You don't have to stay home washing your tights this summer: two classics of modern superhero cinema are returning to theaters. 1989's Batmanand its 1992 sequel, Batman Returns, are returning to theaters courtesy of Dolby Cinema. But the Bat-Signal won't stay on forever: this special event is one night only. Both films will screen on August 25 at all Dolby Cinema at AMC Theaters nationwide.

Both films have been remastered for both Dolby Vision picture and Dolby Atmos sound, giving unparalleled depth to Tim Burton's black-on-black vision of Gotham City and its inhabitants, and to the films' distinctive soundscapes and Danny Elfman's indelible scores. Batman Returns was, in fact, the first film ever to be presented in Dolby Digital, the precursor to Dolby Atmos. Says Burton, "I hadn’t watched these films since I made them, and seeing them again with this level of clarity, beauty, color, and sound felt really new and exciting.

Tim Burton’s iconic “Batman” (1989) and “Batman Returns” (1992) are getting the premium treatment, returning to theaters for a one-night engagement on Aug. 25 exclusively at Dolby Cinema locations.

The remastered versions will play at over 160 Dolby Cinema at AMC Theatres locations across the U.S.. This marks the first time both films will be presented in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

The Burton films, starring Michael Keaton as the Caped Crusader, featured memorable villains including Jack Nicholson’s Joker, Danny DeVito’s Penguin and Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman. Both movies are credited with establishing the darker, more serious tone that would come to define modern superhero cinema.

The enhanced presentation promises to showcase Burton’s gothic vision of Gotham City with unprecedented clarity. After parting with Josh Freese in May, the Foo Fighters have enlisted Nine Inch Nails touring member Ilan Rubin as their next drummer. In an unexpected twist, Freese will join Nine Inch Nails on their Peel It Back run, Rolling Stone has confirmed.

Rubin has been traveling with Nine Inch Nails since 2009, and he was 32 when he became the youngest inductee into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with the band in 2020. The drummer has also collaborated with Paramore, Angels and Airwaves, and Danny Elfman.

Foo Fighters have tapped longtime Nine Inch Nails stickman Ilan Rubin as their new drummer. In a strange twist, former Foos drummer Josh Freese is returning to Nine Inch Nails.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed via sources that Rubin is exiting Nin to join Foo Fighters. However, it is unclear if he will be the Foos’ permanent drummer or touring drummer.

Rubin played with Nin from 2008 to 2009, and again from 2013 until now. He’s the youngest living musician to have been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, having been included in Nin’s 2020 induction at age 32 at the time. In addition to Nin, Rubin is a current member of Tom DeLonge’s band Angels & Airwaves, and has played with Danny Elfman. He also recorded solo albums under the name The New Regime.

The Foo Fighters have found their next drummer, as the rock band has tapped Ilan Rubin for the gig, sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter.

Rubin is best known for his work with Nine Inch Nails, where he’s served as the band’s touring drummer since 2009 and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with the band in 2020, becoming the youngest-ever inductee at the time at age 32. He’s also the drummer for Angels & Airwaves and has worked with Danny Elfman as well.

The move comes just over two months after Foo Fighters parted ways with drummer Josh Freese, who joined the group in 2023 as successor to the late Taylor Hawkins, who died in 2022.

“Wednesday” has been renewed for Season 3 at Netflix.

The news comes before the second season premiere of the Jenna Ortega-led supernatural comedy, which is the most popular English-language Netflix series of all time.

“Wednesday” stars Ortega as the darkly funny Wednesday Addams, who is expelled from her school after dumping piranhas into the pool, and is transferred to a private academy for outcasts.

The series also stars Gwendoline Christie as the shapeshifting principal of Wednesday’s new school, Emma Myers as her werewolf roommate Enid, and Riki Lindhome as her school therapist.

The cast is rounded out by Jamie McShane, Hunter Doohan, Joy Sunday, Georgie Farmer, Naomi J. Brad Bird's 1993 animated series "Family Dog" began its life several years earlier as an episode of "Amazing Stories," a Steven Spielberg-produced anthology series that utilized the talents of Clint Eastwood (among many other notable filmmakers). Also titled "Family Dog," the episode aired on February 16, 1987, and featured a cute white terrier of some kind (with its barks provided by Bird) who lived in an ordinary suburb with a white sitcom family. The dog was only ever referred to as "the dog," but his actual name was Jonah. The episode also starred the legendary Stan Freberg as the family patriarch and Annie Potts as his wife. Danny Elfman and Steve Bartek provided the music, with Tim Burton contributing to the short's character designs.

The piece was sliced into three vignettes, all of which centered on the ways a family dog can forcibly -- and unfortunately -- insert themselves into traditional family moments.

Although Tim Burton's 2005 film adaptation of Roald Dahl's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" isn't deeply beloved -- anyone you ask will say they prefer Mel Stuart's 1971 adaptation, "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," much better -- it was nonetheless a massive success. It was made for a hefty $150 million, but earned an impressive $476 million at the box office, taking most everyone by surprise. "Charlie" was colorful and semi-surreal, utilizing extensive CGI to realize a nightmare carnival rendition of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. While director Tim Burton is best known for live-action films like Beetlejuiceand Batman, the filmmaker has more than a few killer animated features under his sinister belt. The one that often gets talked about is The Nightmare Before Christmas – a film which he didn't even direct. However, out of the stop-motion animation classics he did indeed direct, Corpse Bride is arguably his most celebrated in that artful category. Now, in honor of the film’s 20th anniversary, Corpse Bride is finally coming to 4K Blu-ray.

Warner Bros. will be releasing Corpse Bride via a 4K/Digital combo pack steelbook. While the spooky edition doesn't have a release date yet, there is cover art to admire. The outside is simply the film’s logo on a black background, but the inside artwork is more defined. The inner workings of the steelbook feature Emily, aka the “corpse bride,” with a few of the eerie underworld residents.
