This 2005 Thriller Is Michael Keaton's Worst Movie, According To Rotten Tomatoes
Image
In Geoffrey Sax's 2005 thriller "White Noise," Michael Keaton plays an architect named Jonathan Rivers (not to be confused with rocker Johnny Rivers) who is living in connubial bliss with his second wife Anna (Chandra West). One night, Anna doesn't come home. She remains missing for five months. Jonathan is devastated, but holds out hope that she may still be alive. One day, he is contacted by a man named Raymond (Ian McNeice) who claims to have a clue as to Anna's whereabouts. Raymond has been watching static-tuned TVs and listening to garbled radio signals, and claims he can hear voices emerging through the hissing. Raymond is convinced that the voices are the voices of ghosts, able to communicate with the land of the living through electrical signals.

Jonathan doesn't believe Raymond at first, but soon falls under the spell of white noise monitoring. He finds that his monitoring is...

Puppet Master 4 (1993) Revisited – Horror Movie Review
Chris Farley and David Spade in Black Sheep (1996)
A new episode of the Black Sheep video series has just been released, and in this one we’re directing some praise toward an underappreciated entry in Full Moon’s Puppet Master franchise. That entry is the 1993 release Puppet Master 4 (watch it Here), and you can find out why we think it deserves more respect by checking out the video embedded above!

Directed by Jeff Burr from a script crafted by Charles Band, Steven E. Carr, Todd Henschell, Keith S. Payson, Jo Duffy, and Douglas Aarniokoski, Puppet Master 4 was shot back-to-back with the following year’s Puppet Master 5. The synopsis for Part 4 goes like this: The mini-menaces Blade, Tunneler, and Pinhead go toe-to-toe with their most menacing enemy yet – a team of terrifying, gremlin-like creatures known as “Totems” that are sent by the evil Egyptian demon Sutekh to recapture the magic stolen by Toulon. The demons target a young scientist,...

Halloween Ends Kicks Off Its Kills With An Homage To An Underseen Indie Horror Movie
Image
This article contains minor spoilers for "Halloween Ends."

Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell) is the name on every horror fan's lips right now. He's the surprise, breakout character of David Gordon Green's final chapter in his reboot trilogy, "Halloween Ends." Sure, Green's trilogy might be an uneven, thematically inconsistent set of films, but Green certainly deserves some brownie points for taking large risks in his attempts to innovate the "Halloween" franchise.

In "Ends," the huge risk is centering its story away from just Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) and Michael Myers (James Jude Courtney), and exploring Haddonfield's festering anger through a new conduit. Laurie sees something in Corey's eyes, something dark and distant, something evil — not unlike her boogeyman before him. Green makes a large effort to portray Corey's descent into evil through visual parallels with Michael Myers. He stands by the bush and stares at Laurie the way Myers did all those years ago,...

Diane Keaton melts Jeremy Irons’ cold heart in trailer for ‘Love, Weddings & Other Disasters’
Diane Keaton
Saban Films has launched a new trailer for rom-com ‘Love, Weddings & Other Disasters’ featuring Diane Keaton and Jeremy Irons.

With a couple’s impending wedding as the backdrop, the film weaves multiple storylines as it follows the search for love by a colourful group of characters including an inexperienced wedding planner (Grace) nicknamed “The Wedding Trasher”; a fussy celebrity caterer (Irons); his blind date (Keaton); and a tour-bus guide (Andrew Bachelor) looking for his Cinderella. How their lives and loves intersect is half the fun in this film that proves romance is alive and well… and as crazy as ever!

Written and directed by Dennis Dugan, the film stars Diane Keaton, Jeremy Irons, Maggie Grace, Jesse McCartney, Chandra West, Diego Boneta and Andrew Bachelor.

Also in trailers – New trailer drops for ‘Rose Island’ from Netflix

The film has a US release in cinemas and On-Demand December 4th.

"If you're Cinderella, come meet your Prince Charming..." Saban Films has unveiled the official trailer for a lovable romantic comedy titled Love, Weddings & Other Disasters, the latest ensemble movie from actor / director Dennis Dugan since he last made Grown Ups 2 in 2013. With a couple's impending wedding as the backdrop, Love, Weddings & Other Disasters weaves multiple storylines as it follows the search for love by a colorful group of characters including: an inexperienced wedding planner nicknamed “The Wedding Trasher”; a fussy celebrity caterer; his blind date; and a tour-bus guide looking for his Cinderella. How their lives and loves intersect is half the fun in this film that proves romance is alive and well... and as crazy as ever! Of course it is. ‘Spiral’ Review (Shudder Original)
Image
Stars: Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, Lochlyn Munro, Ari Cohen, Chandra West, Jennifer Laporte, David LeReaney | Written by Colin Minihan, John Poliquin | Directed by Kurtis David Harder

It’s 1995 and a same-sex couple move to a small town so they can enjoy a better quality of life and raise their 16 year-old daughter with the best social values. But nothing is as it seems in their picturesque neighbourhood. And when Malik sees the folks next door throwing a very strange party, something very shocking has got to give.

Billed by many as the gay equivalent of Get Out, I found Spiral to be more of an interesting look into the pressure of being minority – both sexually and racially – and the toll being “different” can have on mental health than That film. For that’s what, for the most part Spiral presents us with: a man, broken by a hate crime of the past, trying...

Watch the Trailer for Spiral, Heading to Shudder on September 17th
Image
We have the new trailer for Spiral, which will be making its premiere on Shudder later this month:

"Malik and Aaron move to a small town in search of a better environment for them and their 16-year-old daughter. But nothing is as it seems as something sinister lies behind the picturesque homes and welcoming faces of their new neighbors.

A horror film for the current age, Spiral skillfully dissects themes of ostracization, otherness, and the cycles of societal rejection and hate, led by a breakout performance by Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman.

With Ty Wood and Chandra West. Written by Colin Minihan (writer of the Shudder Original Z and the upcoming new Urban Legend) and John Poliquin (Selfie), directed by Kurtis David Harder.

Spiral is produced by Minihan, Harder, and John Poliquin for Digital Interference, the celebrated Canadian indie label behind the SXSW sensation What Keeps You Alive (released by IFC Midnight), Shudder Originals Z and Still/Born,...

From VHS to VOD #2
I don’t know if you’re anything like me, but I can often spend hours upon hours trawling through iTunes looking for new movies to buy… Usually I’ll randomly come across a title I haven’t seen in years and use the “Cast & Crew” links to make my way down the rabbit hole to the more obscure side of Apple’s digital movie service.

Now whilst many will decry that iTunes is a terrible VOD service due to Apple’s desire to lock its audience to their platforms, if you have an Apple TV or iPad be aware – there are some truly obscure films hidden away in the depths of the vast collection of movies. Some of which have been made available in the UK for the first time since VHS and a Lot that have been added to the service in their original uncut form!

Burn Notice’s ‘The Fall of Sam Axe’ Needs More Michael, Fiona, & Yogurt!
Funny at first, but not so funny later tryst with a woman lands Sam in hot water. That was the beginning of the The Fall of Sam Axe, a fan-favorite supporting character from the hit USA spy game, Burn Notice. Due to popular demand, the producers of Burn Notice decided to give Sam (Bruce Campbell) his own spotlight, a prequel of sorts to learn the story of how he came to Michael Westen’s (Jeffrey Donovan) aid and how he became unemployed by the Us Government. Burn Notice creator Matt Nix wrote the film and executive produced with Donovan (who also directed The Fall) and Campbell.

It turns out the woman Sam was sleeping is Admiral Gregory Maitland’s (Alex Fernandez) wife, Donna (Chandra West, The Gates). In a case of out of sight, out of mind, Sam is jettisoned to Colombia assign to a piss stain assignment helping the...

TV Review: Average Action in USA’s ‘Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe’
Chicago – My love affair with USA’s “Burn Notice” has been rocky at best. During the second season, it felt like a show that could really blossom into one of the best on cable, but it kind of plateaued a bit in the third season and has been a solid-if-unspectacular program since, never quite living up to its potential while still being entertaining. The same could be said about the prequel movie, “Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe,” airing on USA tomorrow night, April 17th, 2011.

TV Rating: 3.0/5.0

Having been a longtime fan of the “Evil Dead” fans and enough of a Bruce Campbell admirer to have not only seen “Man with the Screaming Brain” but have read his autobiography (“If Chins Could Kill”), I love that “Burn Notice” has brought him to a different, wider audience and was thrilled at the idea of a Campbell movie appearing somewhere other than SyFy.

Another Trailer for Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe
I love me my “Burn Notice”, even if the most recent season wasn’t the best of the bunch. Hey, after what, 3-4 years, I guess they’re due for a mediocre season at least once. Anyways, until the new season of “Burn Notice” picks up, the show’s giving us an original movie, a prequel to the character Sam Axe (played by Bruce Campbell — as if I needed to tell you that), which takes him to South America where he gets into all sorts of wacky trouble. Check out a new trailer (okay, not so new, but new to me) for the movie, directed by “Burn Notice” star Jeffrey Donovan, below. Also starring Kiele Sanchez, Chandra West, John Diehl, RonReaco Lee, and Pedro Pascal. Sam Axe falls next week, April 17 on the USA Network. function getVideo() { var so = new SWFObject("http://cdn.springboard.gorillanation.com/storage/xplayer/yo033.swf", "mplayer", "590", "375", "8", "#000000"); so.

First Trailer for the Burn Notice TV Movie The Fall of Sam Axe
The USA Network has released the first trailer (all 30-seconds of it — hey, this is a TV trailer we’re talking about) for their upcoming “Burn Notice” original movie, “Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe”. As you may have guessed by the title, it’s a prequel of sorts that follows Sam Axe (Bruce Campbell, missing some familiar whites in his hair) during a mission in South America well before he met up with Michael Weston and cruised the beaches of Miami for sugar mommas. “The Fall of Sam Axe” is directed by Campbell’s “Burn Notice” leading man, Jeffrey Donovan, and premieres on April 17th at 9/8c on the USA Network. The 30-second spot doesn’t give any hints of an appearance by Weston and his Irish gal pal, though I suspect they may show up at some point, if only in a coda to the TV movie.

‘Burn Notice’ Prequel Movie Premiere Date Announced
In just two months, Burn Notice fans lamenting the long chill of the wait between seasons will get their fix when the much anticipated prequel movie, Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe, premieres. USA Network has announced that Sunday, April 17th is the day that this Jeffrey Donovan directed film will hit the airwaves.

For the uninformed, the movie takes place in 2005 and features Sam Axe (Bruce Campbell), then a Lieutenant Commander in the Armed Forces, who is sent to advise a military platoon in Bogota , Colombia. He then fights his way out of a web of lies and deception as he realizes that he may be fighting on the wrong side.

The film marks Donovan’s second trip to the director’s chair, having directed an episode in Burn Notice’s fourth season. The film is also written by series creator Matt Nix. That said, we’re looking forward to this one.

Burn Notice Prequel Movie Rounds out Cast
The life and times of Sam Axe before he became the Sam Axe that we all know and love as played by Bruce Campbell will be exposed in all their grisly glory in a “Burn Notice” TV movie set to air sometime next Spring. The movie itself is set to shoot on location in Bogota, Colombia very soon, and the cast has now rounded out with a couple of babes and dudes. Joining the team will be Chandra West (formerly of “The Gates”) as Sam’s “fun” Stateside girlfriend, while Kiele Sanchez (below, “30 Days of Night: Dark Days”) will play a soldier-hating humanitarian relief worker in desperate need of saving in Colombia, where our hero Sam Axe is newly stationed. On the dude side of things, RonReaco Lee plays a non-profit doctor in need of saving, and John Diehl is Sam Axe’s fellow Naval Officer. The plot of the...

The Gates: Star Frank Grillo Hears TV Show's Cancelled
While a second season on ABC seems like a real long shot, ABC hasn't officially cancelled The Gates (unlike say, My Generation). One of the show's stars however has been told that there won't be a second season.

The Gates follows a Chicago police detective (Frank Grillo) who moves his family to a gated suburban community to become the neighborhood's security chief. They soon discover that their new neighbors aren't as normal as they appear to be. The large cast includes Andrea Powell, Rhona Mitra, Marisol Nichols, Luke Mably, Travis Caldwell, Skyler Samuels, Chandra West, Colton Haynes, Janina Gavankar, Justin Miles, Victoria Gabrielle Platt, James Preston, Georgia Cole, Johnny Messner, Brett Cullen, Shannon Lucio, Devyn A. Tyler, McKaley Miller, and Louis Herthum.

Ratings expectations are lower in the summer months but the suburban supernatural series averaged only a 0.9 rating in the all-important 18-49...

The Witch Stirs Up a Lot of Trouble for Herself With the Vampires of 'The Gates' (Video)
Frank Grillo, Luke Mably, Rhona Mitra, Marisol Nichols, Skyler Samuels, and Travis Caldwell in The Gates (2010)

Throughout this first season of 'The Gates' (Sun., 10Pm on ABC), local witch Devon (Chandra West) had been stirring up trouble with just about everyone. Her misdeeds came back to haunt her in the finale, as the vampires decided it was time to do away with her for good.

Dylan (Luke Mably) and Claire Radcliffe (Rhona Mitra) arrived at her house to take care of the situation, but Chief Nick Monahan (Frank Grillo) stayed the execution. "My son is dying. She's the only one who can save him," he pleaded. But it proved only a temporary stay of execution, as the four were surrounded by vampires en route.

Nick and Dylan tried to use reason with the leader of the vampire group that stopped them, arguing that it doesn't have to be this way. Unfortunately, he proves less sympathetic to Nick's plight. "And unfortunately for you,...

Being Human, The Gates – Supernatural Throw Down! Season Finales This Weekend
As the summer draws to a close (at least in televisionland), BBC America’s Being Human and ABC’s The Gates conclude with their season finales this weekend. Both of these two shows feature intermingling of supernatural creatures and the finales will sure pack a punch to close the season. Check out the finale summaries, promos, and sneak peeks below.

Being Human Season 2, Episode 8 Synopsis

It’s the final showdown at the research facility. Can Mitchell save his friends from Lucy’s macabre experiments? Can his friends be save him from himself? And is this really the end for Annie?

Now that Mitchell has gone all ‘Angelus’, I don’t think he’s pleased with discovering that his ‘girlfriend’ took his werewolf and ghost roommate away from him… not to mention that she orchestrated the explosion that was meant to take him and all the rest of the vampires living in Bristol out.

The Gates: New Supernatural Drama on ABC; Cancel or Keep It?
Though ABC didn't have much luck with their Eastwick drama, the network is trying another kind of supernatural series, The Gates, for the summer months. Will this one make it to season two?

The Gates revolves around a big city cop who moves his family to a quiet gated community where many of the residents aren't exactly what they appear to be. The ensemble cast includes Rhona Mitra, Colton Haynes, Frank Grillo, Janina Gavankar, Chandra West, Luke Mably, James Preston, Marisol Nichols, Skyler Samuels, Travis Caldwell, Victoria Platt, and Justin Miles.

The series debuted on Sunday, June 20th, to an unimpressive 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and just 4.78 million viewers. Considering all of the network's promotion, this was a disappointing start. The premiere ranked first in the demo and second in total viewers for the timeslot.

  In week...

Behind The Gates with Chandra West
Canadian actress Chandra West has bounced back and forth between film and TV: her last recurring role was on HBO.s short-lived series John From Cincinnati. But West recently returned to the small screen as the mysterious (and quite possibly evil) Devon on ABC.s The Gates. I spoke to West about the show.s supernatural slant, Devon.s ultimate plans, and why we should root for the bad guy.

TV.com: So what brought you to The Gates?

I loved the script. I thought the script was a really fun, interesting read. And I thought that my character, Devon, was intriguing. At...  More >>...

Janina Gavankar Exclusive Interview The Gates
As part of ABC’s new summer programming slate, The Gates is a supernatural drama about an ultra-exclusive, gated community made up of residents who are guarding a dark secret. With a town comprised of vampires, werewolves and witches, struggling to suppress their cravings, things are just bound to go wrong, especially when the newest residents are a totally unaware police chief and his unsuspecting family.

In The Gates, actress Janina Gavankar plays Leigh, a deputy in the police department with a shocking secret of her own. The musician and vocalist who has appeared in theatre, commercials, short films and indies, recently spoke exclusively on the phone to Collider about being a part of the current vampire craze and how much she loves the supernatural/sci-fi genre. Check out what she had to say after the jump:

Question: How did you get involved with “The Gates”?

Janina: It was pilot season and I was grinded.
