Netflix recently dropped another Harlan Coben adaptation, Missing You, and while it might not be the best show out there, it’s certainly a fun, guilty pleasure worth getting lost in. The show is a mystery thriller that follows Kat Donovan (Rosalind Eleazar), a detective inspector whose specialty is finding missing people. However, regardless of her talents, she never found the most important person who suddenly vanished from her life 11 years prior. Following the tragic death of her father, Clint (Lenny Henry), over a decade ago, Kat’s world only became more fraught when her fiancé, Josh (Ashley Walters), abruptly disappeared. Although, unlike her cases, Josh didn’t simply go missing, he left and completely ghosted her without any sort of explanation,...

Harlan Coben has admitted he worries he’ll never have another idea for a TV series or novel. The acclaimed author has found huge success with Netflix adapting Fool Me Once and now Missing You.
The mystery writer's latest series adaptation, Missing You, landed on Netflix last week, featuring Slow Horses’s Rosalind Eleazar as Detective Inspector Kat Donovan searching for her fiancé years after he suddenly disappeared. Even though Coben has several other adaptations of his books in active development with Netflix and Prime Video, he has now revealed his insecurity over writing each new story.

Missing You all comes to an end in episode 5, "Chain Reaction." Luckily, Kat Donovan (Rosalind Eleazar) gets all the answers to the questions she's been asking for years in the season finale.
Episode 5 begins right where Missing You episode 4 ended, with Kat learning that Josh (Ashley Walters) has been alive this whole time. She finally finds him 11 years after he ran away from their life. He now has a young daughter, Sadie. He tells Kat that Sadie's mother died years earlier.
Then, the pair start rehashing their relationship and why he left. Kat shares her theory that Josh ran after he learned Clint (Lenny Henry) was a dirty cop, and he didn't want to have to lie to her. He agrees, but there's still something missing. He tells her that he's sorry, and they nearly kiss before she pulls away. Josh confesses that he still loves her after all this time.

Harlan Coben’s new Netflix show, Missing You, gets off to a bit of a slow start in the series premiere, “Every Breath You Take.” Kat Donovan (Rosalind Eleazar) finds her ex who has been missing for 11 years on a dating app. When she reaches out, he cuts off contact. Then, she finds out that the man who killed her father, Detective Clint Donovan (Lenny Henry), didn’t actually kill her father. Harlan Coben’s new Netflix show, Missing You, just premiered on Netflix on Jan. 1, 2025. When publishing this recap and review, it’s the no. 2 Netflix show behind Squid Game season 2. It seems unlikely that it’ll be more popular than Squid Game after seeing the early numbers, but it’s still well on its way to a huge premiere, just like Fool Me Once, the Harlan Coben Netflix show that premiered on New Year’s Day 2024.
Missing You episode 1, “Every Breath You Take,” begins the same way most of Coben’s show begin with a big mystery, a detective, and a new case that re-opens old wounds to solve.
In the opening scene, we see a man trying to escape something on a horse. He looks disheveled, but he’s imagining an old love. Then, he falls off the horse and knocks himself out.

Forget “Nashville’s Big Bash,” “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest,” and Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper taking advantage of CNN’s refreshment budget. TV’s most popular New Year’s tradition is fast becoming a Netflix whodunit which continually drops the ball in plot, dialogue, and anything approaching the human condition.
Indeed, following the success of “Stay Close” and “Fool Me Once,” the streaming giant is once again ringing in the New Year with the help of potboiler extraordinaire Harlan Coben. This time around, it’s his 2014 novel “Missing You” getting the small screen treatment across five episodes precision tooled to binge along with your party leftovers. And it may well be the most far-fetched yet, no tall order considering previous ventures have involved everything from decapitated alpacas and deepfaked dead partners to a murderous cabaret duo named Ken and Barbie.

The new British Netflix adaptation of another Harlan Coben novel, Missing You, is elevated by a strong, layered backstory and excellent performance from Slow Horses’s Rosalind Eleazar. That’s not to say the series is a hard-hitting drama, but the series version of a beach read that is meant to be a crime mystery that is light and entertaining rather than something gritty.
Yet, Missing You offers more for its audience than your typical streaming popcorn fare. The series, particularly in how director Nimer Rashed (Fool Me Once) and writer Victoria Asare-Archer (Stay Close) explore abandonment and turn it into something humanly fragile, can be simultaneously riveting and unexpectedly moving.

The story follows Detective Inspector Kat Donovan (Eleazar), who is far more successful in her professional life than her personal one.

The 2001 war drama Band of Brothers is well-known for its accurate depiction of World War II, yet the show makes some changes from the book it's based on. Created by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, the 10-episode mini-series tells the story of the real-life men of Easy Company, who landed in France on D-Day and fought valiantly throughout Europe until the end of the war. The Band of Brothers show is based on Stephen E. Ambrose's 1992 non-fiction book of the same name but made some of its own creative decisions.
Band of Brothers changed TV forever war movies and TV have long been part of Hollywood, but this show was one of the first to dial in on accuracy and true stories. In recent years, the subgenre of "Dad Shows" in TV has soared in popularity, and some of the best series ever can be placed into this category. Although the definition has fluctuated, Dad Shows typically focus on topics such as seeking justice, violence, spies, and crime, but this has never been an exclusive rule. For a show to be considered a Dad Show, its main function would be to engage viewers with action-packed sequences and tense storylines, just as the very best Dad movies do.

Band of Brothers cast includes Tom Hardy, Jimmy Fallon, and many familiar actors playing real WWII soldiers. The series is based on the book by Stephen E. Ambrose and follows Easy Company through the major events of WWII. Despite some creative liberties, the show is known for its authenticity and remains one of the greatest TV shows ever made.
From Tom Hardy to Jimmy Fallon, the cast of Band of Brothers is packed with familiar actors in both major and minor roles. It has been over 20 years since the HBO World War II miniseries, based on the book of the same name by Stephen A. Ambrose, originally aired. Despite the time that has passed, the show regularly still lands on lists of the greatest-ever TV series. Band of Brothers follows E Company, a group of paratroopers within the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division, from their early days of training...

“You dabbled with aliens,” declares creature that had been posing as an alien hunter named Victor Kennedy. “Now meet the genuine article.”
It’s hard to put into words just how upsetting that genuine article is. Unsightly grey flesh drips from his shoulders and head, so that he resembles more a sentient glob of moldy yogurt than an actual person. Comedian Peter Kay makes his character even more upsetting by bearing his teeth and sticking out his tongue. And that’s before revealing that the faces of his victims protrude from his body still screaming for help, including a character noted for her sweetness stuck to his bottom.

Somehow, the worst part of the monster, dubbed the Abzorbaloff, is his behind-the-scenes origin. The Abzorbaloff design came from a child who won a contest through the long-running kid’s show Blue Peter.

In the British sci-fi series Doctor Who, the Doctor meets many people on their adventures throughout time and space. Unfortunately, not all of them survive the enemies they encounter whenever they step out of the Tardis. After all, Daleks and Cybermen and the Master don't care who ends up collateral damage. Still, many fan-favorite characters have died senseless deaths at their hands, or at the hands of things even worse.
Doctor Who has a habit of giving viewers very sympathetic and likeable characters and then killing them off just as audiences have fully embraced them. This raises the stakes for Doctor Who fans, but it sometimes results in characters (particularly female characters) being killed in order to further the Doctor's storyline and make them sad. Many of these characters got meaningful deaths, but there's no denying that too often their deaths were more about the Doctor, or his companions or enemies,...
