John Lane(1940-2024)

John F. Lane was an American Theater and Film Actor from New Orleans, LA. He excelled in Track & Field and Football in his youth and later received his B.A from Louisiana State University New Orleans.
John starred in many plays at Le Petite Theater in New Orleans including "West Side Story", where is met his future wife Antoinette Girgenti Lane. John moved to New York to pursue acting, but ultimately landed in Los Angeles, CA.
After earning his MFA from UCLA in 1973 John started the Theater department for Marymount College Palos Verdes where he was Professor of Fine Arts for 48 years and produced and directed over 235 plays including "Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf", "Cat on A Hot Tin Roof", "Dames At Sea" and "Bus Stop".
Throughout his career he starred in "A Streetcar Named Desire" as Stanley, "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum" on a USO Tour, and many movies e.g "Intoxication", "The Cincinnati Kid" as well as the 2022 release of "Justice for Lizzy".
John was a member of SAG-AFTRA and AEA. He received numerous honors and awards for his excellence as a Professor/Director and Actor.
John was loved by his student, faculty, and family.
