Exclusive: Nick Jonas is near closed on a deal to star as Kiss lead singer Paul Stanley in Shout It Out Loud, the McG-directed film about the formation of the venerable hard rock band in the 1970s. The film will go into production at the end of the year or in early 2026, with STX fully financing. The most recent draft is by Darren Lemke. Previous drafts were done by Ole Sanders and the first writer of the script was William Herron.
I’m told that Jonas will do his own singing, and he’ll need time to train to replicate the jet-engine vocals of Stanley. Besides headlining in the sibling band The Jonas Brothers, Jonas has also proven his chops onscreen. His rise began with the 2016 toxic masculinity hazing drama Goat. Lotti Golden wasn’t about to miss her big chance. At the age of 17, while still a senior at Canarsie High School in Brooklyn, she’d landed a staff songwriting job with Saturday Music, a song publisher in midtown Manhattan. But Golden had bigger ambitions. So, when her boss, Bob Crewe, stepped into a crowded elevator with her one day at work, she knew she had to pitch him on making a record.

Christian Petzold’s “Miroirs No. 3,” which has its world premiere on Saturday in Directors’ Fortnight, is set in present-day Germany but it evokes a gothic fairytale, albeit set in a landscape reminiscent of the American Mid-West.
At the start of the film, Laura, played by Paula Beer, is experiencing an undefined mental crisis but reluctantly agrees to go on a car journey with her boyfriend. After a mysterious accident, in which the boyfriend is killed, Laura is taken under the wing of a kind woman, Betty, played by Barbara Auer, who lives near the crash site.
The film unfolds like a fairytale, similar to the stories of Brothers Grimm, Petzold tells Variety. Betty is portrayed as a witch-like character, like the old woman in “Hansel and Gretel.” She lives on her own on the edge of town, where she gathers medicinal plants from the garden, and is viewed with suspicion by the villagers.

Just in Time star Jonathan Groff in currently in second place in Gold Derby's Tony Awards predictions for Best Actor in a Musical, only behind fellow Glee alum Darren Criss for Maybe Happy Ending. The former triumphed for Merrily We Roll Along just last year, so if he prevails again, he'd be the first individual in history to win this category consecutively.
Prior to Groff, five men were Tony nominated for Best Actor in a Musical two years in a row, but didn't emerge victorious:
Gregory Hines in 1980 for Comin' Uptown and 1981 for Sophisticated Ladies George Hearn in 1983 for A Doll's Life and 1984 for La Cage aux Folles (the latter of which resulted in a win) Patrick Wilson in 2001 for The Full Monty and 2002 for Oklahoma! Michael Cerveris in 2006 for Sweeney Todd and 2007 for LoveMusik Brian d'Arcy James in 2023 for Into the Woods and 2024 for Days of Wine and Roses...

A new stage musical adaptation of the popular 1999 film 10 Things I Hate About You is being developed for Broadway, with Carly Rae Jepsen and Ethan Gruska collaborating on the score and Lena Dunham and Jessica Huang at work on the book.
Two-time Tony winners Christopher Wheeldon will handle direction and choreography with Tom Kitt (Next To Normal) on music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations. Mike Bosner will produce.
10 Things I Hate About You is a retelling of William Shakespeare’s 1594 play The Taming of the Shrew, and the film launched the careers of Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, showcasing a breakout performance by Alison Janney. The film became a generational touchstone with its keen insight into 1990s teen life as seen in a Seattle suburb.
Casting and a production timeline for the musical was not announced.
Jepsen launched a major music career with her 2012 hit “Call Me Maybe.

One of the most entertaining arcs of The Sopranos is definitely the sub-plot about New York's Lupertazzi Crime Family in season five. Many fans will often refer to the final season when discussing their favorite mafia-related conflict, in which New York and New Jersey went to war with each other. However, season five's inner conflict of the Lupertazzi Family is right up there with some of the best drama of the series. Tony and his family get caught in the middle of the only other true mob war that is depicted throughout the course of the series. During this season five arc, the sudden passing of Carmine Lupertazzi has sparked a power grab for control of the crime family. The two factions that go to war over who is going to be the next boss, break up the Lupertazzi family into supporters of either John Sacrimoni or Carmine Lupertazzi Jr.

“Anora.” I went with “A Complete Unknown” for such a long time, for two months before I saw “Anora.” Just the balancing act of the humor, the tension, the male gaze sexiness, and [Anora’s] character being so aggressive and tough and not taking shit, this long-lost child inside. When that last scene happened, it broke your heart, and [Mikey Madison] was so good in it. And the boyfriend [Mark Eydelshteyn], from the moment he walked on the screen, I wanted to do violence to him. Every chance she gets, she would go in his lap and snuggle up and there’d be no conversation.

2024 was a massively successful year for horror movies, especially those from independent studios. With notable titles like A24's Heretic and a wide selection from Neon, including Longlegs, Cuckoo and Immaculate, the horror field saw an increase in audience reception. Looking toward the cinematic lineup in 2025, it's clear that the refreshing wave of new horror films is only growing.
Whether it's expanding franchises with anticipated, blood-curdling sequels or fresh takes on pre-established horror stories, 2025 contains a diversity of works that will have audiences squealing with joy and fear. If this year's releases are anywhere near replicative of last year's, long-time horror fans and apprehensive newcomers are in for a truly terrifying year.

Valentine’s Day has always been a time for romance, but Heart Eyes, the new slasher film from Spyglass and Screen Gems, is set to drench the holiday in blood. Arriving in cinemas on February 14, 2025 in the UK and Ireland (and February 7th in the US), the film redefines the season of love with a chilling premise: no couple is safe from the deadly “Heart Eyes Killer.”
Directed by Josh Ruben, Heart Eyes centres on the Heart Eyes Killer, a masked figure infamous for his Valentine’s Day killing sprees. For years, he’s targeted romantic couples, turning their celebrations into unspeakable tragedy. This year, the killer adds a macabre twist by stalking a pair of platonic co-workers he mistakenly believes are romantically involved. What ensues is a tense, blood-soaked game of survival as the characters navigate shadowy woods, a drive-in movie theatre, and other sinister settings, all while set...

Going into this year’s Grammys, each of the six nominees for Best Musical Theater Album has its own distinct advantages, from involvement of previous nominees/winners to encouraging statistics. So let’s consider the possibilities.
The frontrunner to win based on the official Gold Derby odds is Hell’s Kitchen. It’s a jukebox musical mining the song catalog of Alicia Keys, who also wrote a few original tunes for the show. Jukebox musicals in general tend to be catnip for voters in this category as they contain material voters are familiar with. Previous champs include Jersey Boys, which used the songs of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons; American Idiot, an adaptation of Green Day‘s eponymous 2004 concept album; Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, which featured Carole King‘s song catalog; and Jagged Little Pill, an adaptation of Alanis Morissette‘s 1995 album.
Keys has plenty of bona fides.

This year’s Grammy week will be looking a little different, as the show will take place shortly after Los Angeles was devastated by wildfires in the Pacific Palisades and Altadena. Music’s biggest night will mark the first awards show to take place in L.A. since the tragedy began on Jan. 7, and many of the typical Grammy events have been canceled as the usual players — including Spotify and the major labels — redirect resources to aid wildfire relief efforts.
However, a handful of events will carry on with a charitable component, including the starry Clive Davis party and MusiCares tribute concert. Check out this year’s still-on Grammys celebrations below.

Gooding, known for his roles in Scream (2022) and Scream VI, stars alongside Holt (Totally Killer) in a genre-bending story where "no couple is safe." The cast also features Jordana Brewster, Gigi Zumbado, and Devon Sawa.

Over the weekend, a video of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons went viral on X (formerly Twitter). It wasn’t a throwback from the height of their career, but a more recent clip of the group performing “Bye, Bye, Baby” on their ongoing farewell tour. “Whoever keeps sending Frankie Valli out on stage at this point is committing elder abuse,” one social media user wrote. Valli, who is 90 years old, admittedly seems a little spaced out in the video. But the musician responded to the viral moment to defend...

Frankie Valli, the legendary crooner and frontman of the Four Seasons, turned 90 this past May but continues to maintain a robust touring schedule, with concerts planned well into 2025. However, recent concert footage of the singer has gone viral on social media over the last few weeks, with many expressing concern over his well-being.
Many of the clips show Valli singing with the microphone far below his mouth. He often struggles to keep up with the music, barely moving his lips as backing tracks play. At other times, he seems to miss his cues entirely. Making the scenes all the more jarring is the juxtaposition of the much younger Four Seasons members singing and dancing in the background, along with the accompaniment of a full band.
Understandably, many people in the comments expressed their concern for Valli. “This is a tough watch,” one person wrote. “This is cruel,” another person commented.

Netflix’s The Perfect Couple series is coming on September 5th and will bring more murder mysteries to the streaming platform. The limited series is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Elin Hilderbrand. The full trailer has officially been released and it will have viewers on the edge of their seats.
What is The Perfect Couple Hiding?
Netflix is loving Nicole Kidman this year as she starred in the rom-com, A Family Affair alongside Zac Efron and Joey King. However, she is steering away from the romantic comedies this time. Back to her Big Little Lies roots, Kidman plays novelist Greer who awaits the wedding of her son Benji and Amelia Sacks with her husband, Tag.

At this year’s Tony Awards “Suffs” managed to win prizes for Best Musical Book and Best Score, both of which went to Shaina Taub. Historically, winning those two accolades in particular would bode well for a show’s chances at Best Musical. Yet in a shocking turn of events, the top award went to “The Outsiders.” But this is not the first time something like this has happened.
SEETony Awards: Every winner (and nominee) in all 26 competitive categories
In 1978 “On the Twentieth Century” won Tonys for Best Score and Best Book (Comden and Green). It also won Best Actor in a Musical (John Cullum), Best Featured Actor in a Musical (Kevin Kline), and Best Scenic Design (Robin Wagner). Which performance received the best reviews at Cannes? Cher managed to conquer this year’s film festival even without appearing on screen.
At 12:30 a.m. in the South of France, decked out in a dazzling sequined purple pantsuit, Cher took the stage at Cannes amfAR, the charity gala devoted to raising money for research for HIV and AIDS. “I thought you guys would be drunk, but obviously you’re not,” Cher said after performing an acoustic rendition of “Walking in Memphis,” the Marc Cohn ballad she covered on her 1995 album “It’s a Man’s World,” that had hundreds of guests cheering her on.
Three songs later — and one costume change into a black sparkling jacket over couture negligee — Cher had emerged victorious. The crowd at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc would have given her the biggest standing ovation of Cannes, except they never sat during her 15-minute set.

Legendary singer Frankie Valli received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last Friday (May 3) and had his family by his side, well, except for his eldest son, Francesco. Valli, 90, was joined for the momentous occasion by his twin sons Emilio and Brando and his wife, Jackie. But Francesco, who earlier this week had a temporary restraining order against him made permanent for the next three years, was noticeably absent. “This is really a highlight of my life, especially having my sons here and my wife sitting right there,” Valli told the crowd during his Walk of Fame ceremony. According to People, Francesco’s brother Emilio filed the restraining order last month. After a hearing in Los Angeles on Monday, April 29, a judge signed off on the order of protection for Frankie and Emilio against Francesco, which will last until April 29, 2027. Singer Frankie Valli‘s son, Emilio, has been granted a temporary restraining order against his brother, Francesco. In recent months, Emilio claims that Francesco has repeatedly threatened to harm him and their famous father.
The request for the restraining order was filed on April 8 by Emilio, 29, in Los Angeles. In the filing, Emilio stated that Francesco, 36, attempted to break into their father’s property on April 5. During the incident, while waiting for law enforcement to arrive, Francesco allegedly made multiple physical threats to harm or even kill both Frankie and Emilio. Emilio asserted that this behavior is part of a pattern that has persisted for several months.
Emilio indicated in the filing that the family believes Francesco is struggling with addiction to opiates. While Frankie has been providing financial support to his son, Emilio claims that the support is now conditional on Francesco agreeing to enter a residential drug treatment program.

Family Switch's soundtrack blends Christmas themes with classic songs from various genres, capturing the essence of this offbeat family comedy. The music reflects the characters' emotions and their transformation into a more loving and understanding family throughout the film. The inclusion of holiday classics in the soundtrack reminds viewers that Family Switch takes place during the most magical time of the year.
Family Switch's soundtrack mixes the themes of Christmas with plenty of classic songs spanning several genres, which is perfect for this wacky family comedy. The Netflix body-swap film is full of outrageously hilarious moments, but, at its core, it's a family movie that drives home the importance of taking time to walk in someone else's shoes. Though it doesn't contain many features of a traditional Christmas film, the spackling of classic holiday songs reminds audiences that Family Switch is set during the most magical time of the year.

Ms. Lauryn Hill staged a surprise Fugees reunion during her solo headlining set at Philadelphia’s 2023 Roots Picnic on Saturday, bringing together the hip-hop trio for the first time since their 2021 comeback tour was delayed, and eventually canceled.
The group reconvened at the end of the New Jersey singer-rapper’s stacked set, which comprised most of her 1998 Album of the Year winner, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. Following her fan-favorite cover of Frankie Valli’s “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” Hill introduced her long-time bandmates, Wyclef Jean and Pras Michel, by exclaiming, “These are my brothers!”
The six-song mini-set closed out her performance and included the title track from their 1996 album The Score as well as certified classics like “How Many Mics,” “Zealots,” “Ready or Not,” and “Killing Me Softly.” They wrapped with the self-referential anthem, “Fu-Gee-La.” Watch fan-captured footage of Lauryn Hill’s set, plus the Fugees reunion,...

Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies is set four years before the story it's based on, but breaks musical rules that make its story even better. Grease opened on Broadway in 1972 and was turned into the highest-grossing movie musical in 1978, though the story is set in 1959, with music by Jim Jacobs, Warren Casey, and John Farrar to match. The Rise of the Pink Ladies series is set in the mid-1950s and takes a different approach to the music, but it’s this specific rule-breaking from the source material that improves its story.
As successful as the Grease film was, its soundtrack was just as, if not more, successful. It expanded on the score from the Broadway show, adding four huge songs, “Grease,” "Sandy," "You're the One That I Want," and the Academy Award- and Grammy-nominated “Hopelessly Devoted to You.” Grease was such a success that it even spawned a sequel,...

Rolling Stone‘s interview series King for a Day features long-form conversations between senior writer Andy Greene and singers who had the difficult job of fronting major rock bands after the departure of an iconic vocalist. Some of them stayed in their bands for years, while others lasted just a few months. In the end, however, they all found out that replacement singers can themselves be replaced. This edition features former Four Seasons singer Gerry Polci.
By the mid-Seventies, the once-unstoppable Four Seasons seemed like they were heading into oblivion.
