Amazon Prime Video’s Reacher will see a familiar face as Maria Sten returns for the action series’ second season.

Months after the streamer picked up the Alan Ritchson-fronted series for Season 2, Prime Video shared that Sten will reprise her role of Frances Neagley. Ritchson, who stars as Jack Reacher, revealed on Wednesday that the upcoming chapter seeks to cover Lee Child’s Bad Luck and Trouble, the 11th book in the Jack Reacher series. The first season was based on Child’s Killing Floor.

From writer and showrunner Nick Santora, the series follows Jack Reacher, a veteran military police investigator who has just recently entered civilian life. Reacher is a drifter, carrying no phone and the barest of essentials as he travels the country and explores the nation he once served. When Reacher arrives in the small town of Margrave, Georgia, he finds a community grappling with its first homicide in 20 years.

The fast turnaround renewal comes three days after the streamer launched the Lee Child adaptation.

Amazon said that Reacher ranked in its top five most-watched series ever in the U.S. and globally over a 24-hour period – though it’s worth noting that all eight episodes of the series launched at once. The company added that it also was among its highest-rated original series, with subscribers giving it an average rating of 4.7 out of 5.

The action thriller series debuted on the streamer just three days ago, on Feb. 4. It is based on the Jack Reacher novel series by Lee Child. The first season is based on the debut novel in the series, “Killing Floor,” which was released in 1997. Per Amazon, the show is already one of their top five most-watched shows of all time, though it must be noted that Amazon also does not provide viewership numbers.

Netflix announced the comedy event “Death to 2021” will premiere Dec. 27.

The special tells the story of yet another dreadful year through a documentary style, mixing archival footage gathered over the year with commentary from fictitious characters played by Hugh Grant, Lucy Liu, Tracey Ullman, Samson Kayo, Joe Keery, William Jackson Harper, Stockard Channing, Cristin Milioti, Diane Morgan, Nick Mohammed and more.

In a first-look clip from the special, which you can watch below, an “average British citizen,” played by Morgan, shares her experience with online dating during the pandemic. “I got on quite well with one of them,” says the character. “We even had a cuddle.” The scene then cuts to the pair on a virtual date over Zoom, awkwardly leaning towards their computers.

“Death to 2021” is executive produced by Annabel Jones and Ben Caudell. Nick Vaughan-Smith produces, and Jack Clough and Josh Ruben direct. The special was written by Caudell.

Exclusive: Bruce McGill (Rizzoli & Isles), Maria Sten (Swamp Thing) and Hugh Thompson (Chapelwaite) have been tapped as series regulars opposite Alan Ritchson in the upcoming Amazon original series Reacher, based on the Jack Reacher character from Lee Child’s international bestselling books.

Ritchson stars as the title character in the series, produced by Amazon Studios, Skydance Television and Paramount Television Studios. The first season, written, exec produced and showrun by Nick Santora, is based on the first Jack Reacher novel, The Killing Floor, which is set in Georgia.

McGill will play Mayor Teale, the distinguished mayor of Margrave, who comes from a long line of Southern gentlemen who have run Margrave for decade.

Sten will portray the irreverent Frances Neagley. She formerly worked under Reacher as an Army MP and now is a private investigator, she is Reacher’s best friend.

Thompson will play Baker, the head cop of Margrave.

Giving a leading role to Jacki Weaver is something any filmmaker should be commended for. The veteran actress is a welcome presence anywhere, no matter the topic. Oscar-winning documentarian (for Taxi to the Dark Side) Alex Gibney will direct the dramatic feature American Hero, based on the true story of U.S. Army Captain Hugh Thompson, who defied orders and saved a number of civilian lives during the Vietnam War’s infamous My Lai massacre. Thompson was eventually awarded the Soldier’s Medal, the highest medal for bravery not involving direct conflict.

It’s the second narrative film Gibney has signed on for, following the political thriller The Action, which was announced last year and for which Scott Z. Burns has written the screenplay.

The 28-year-old singer was handed a court summons by police in Jamaica following her expletive-filled performance at the Reggae Sumfest festival at the Catherine Hall Complex in Montego Bay in the early hours of Sunday (24.07.11) but did not appear in a local court today (26.07.11) to answer charges of breaching local laws against profanity. This is a bit of news we missed in the relative festive downtime, but it’s an intriguing prospect for both Oliver Stone and Shia Labeouf.

Following their turn together in last year’s Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps Stone revealed in the Ws: Mns Blu-ray commentary track that during the making of the film Stone and Labeouf mulled over the prospect of the young actor taking the lead in Stone’s long delayed film Pinkville.

Production of the film was delayed in 2007 by the Writer’s Strike and no official word has revealed that Pinkville is back on but it has all the hallmarks of an Oliver Stone film. Telling the story of the 1968 massacre at My Lai when nearly 500 Vietnamese civilians were killed by American forces before a Us pilot stopped the killings by standing between his Army and their intended victims.

The incident was to have massive political repercussions.

Director Oliver Stone wants Shia Labeouf to head to the battlefield and lead the cast of his previously shelved Vietnam War drama Pinkville.

The filmmaker's project was due to begin production in December 2007 with Channing Tatum as the male lead, but it was put on hold indefinitely as a result of a strike by members of the Writers Guild of America that year.

However, Stone is keen to kickstart work on the movie and has now tipped his Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps star Labeouf to feature in the story of the My Lai Massacre in 1968, when hundreds of Vietnamese citizens were killed by U.S. soldiers.

If the young actor signs up for the role of heroic pilot Hugh Thompson, who helped to bring an end to the killings, it will be of personal significance for him - his father was a helicopter pilot during the battle.

Telling the story of the My Lai massacre that was carried out by Us soldiers in Vietnam, Oliver Stone’s film Pinkville has been stalled for several years now. While it originally sported a cast that included Bruce Willis and Woody Harrelson, various things, including the WGA strike of fall 2007, kept it from being made in its original form.

But the project may not be dead, after all. As a story at IGN (via /Film) tells us that Stone is considering casting his Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps lead Shia Labeouf for the crucial role of helicopter pilot Hugh Thompson, which was originally planned for Channing Tatum.

Nothing else has been said regarding this casting, other than the interesting piece of news saying that Labeouf has an interest in the subject matter since his father was himself a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. Otherwise, no news regarding funding or shooting has come to light.
