Viktor Sergachev is a Russian actor of Moscow Art Theatre (MKhAT).

He was born Viktor Nikolaevich Sergachev on November 24, 1934, in Borzya, Chita province, Siberian Russia, Soviet Union (now Russia). His parents were working class Russians. Young Sergachev was fond of theatre, he was active in amateur drama club at his school. From 1953 - 1956 he studied acting under Pavel Massalsky at Moscow Art Theatre School of Acting, graduating in 1956 as an actor. In 1962 he made his big screen debut in films Uvolnenie na bereg (1962) and 'Konets sveta'.

In 1956 Sergachev joined Oleg Efremov as a founding member of Sovremennik theatre company. From 1957 - 1971 Viktor Sergachev was a permanent member of the troupe at Sovremennik Theatre in Moscow. There her stage partners were such actor as Oleg Efremov, Evgeniy Evstigneev, Galina Volchek, Stanislav Lyubshin, Andrey Myagkov, Vladimir Kashpur, Alla Pokrovskaya, Oleg Tabakov, Oleg Dal, Igor Kvasha, Valentin Gaft and other notable Russian actors. During his Sovremennik years, Sergachev shone in Anton Chekhov's plays, such as Ivanov, Chaika (aka.. The Seagull), Dyadya Vanya (aka.. Uncle Vanya), and Vishnevy sad (aka.. The Cherry Orchard). His best known roles at Sovremennik were as Minister of Tender Feelings in 'Golyy Korol' (aka.. The Naked King), a Soviet adaptation of 'The Emperor's New Clothes', and as Kleshch in Maxim Gorky's Na dne (aka.. The Lower Bottoms).

Since 1971 Viktor Sergachev has been a permanent member of the troupe at Moscow Art Theatre (MKhAT). There his stage partners were such renown Russian actors as Anatoli Ktorov, Olga Androvskaya, Angelina Stepanova, Mikhail Yanshin, Aleksey Gribov, Boris Livanov, Mikhail Kedrov, Mark Prudkin, Anastasiya Georgievskaya, Vasili Toporkov, Mikhail Bolduman, Pavel Massalsky, and the next generation of MKhAT actors - Oleg Efremov, Tatyana Doronina, Innokentiy Smoktunovskiy, Oleg Tabakov, Kristina Babushkina, Alla Pokrovskaya, Kira Golovko, Tatyana Lavrova, Iya Savvina, Nina Gulyaeva, Elena Panova, Darya Moroz, Olga Litvinova, Natalya Rogozhkina, Ekaterina Semyonova, Olga Yakovleva, Anastasiya Voznesenskaya, Irina Miroshnichenko, Evgeniya Dobrovolskaya, Andrey Myagkov, Stanislav Lyubshin, Vladimir Kashpur, Vyacheslav Nevinnyy, Evgeniy Kindinov, Vladimir Krasnov, Dmitriy Nazarov, Sergey Sazontev, Avangard Leontev, Igor Vasilev, Igor Vernik, Sergei Sosnovsky, Mikhail Porechenkov, Konstantin Khabensky, Valeri Khlevinsky, Valeriy Troshin, Mikhail Trukhin, Eduard Chekmazov, Aleksey Kravchenko, Aleksei Agapov, and Evgeniy Mironov among others. His best known stage appearances include his roles in such classic plays as Aleksandr Griboyedov's Gore ot Uma (aka.. Woe from Wit) and in Anton Chekhov's plays: Ivanov, Chaika (aka.. The Seagull), Dyadya Vanya (aka.. Uncle Vanya), and Vishnevy sad (aka.. The Cherry Orchard).

Viktor Sergachev was designated People's Actor of Russia. He also directed several plays at Moscow Art Theatre. Sergachev has been married to Bulgarian philologist Vanya Sergacheva, and the couple has two daughters. The Sergachevs are living in Moscow, Russia.
