Stu Samuels began his career at TV Guide for eight years where he rose to become its National Programming Editor while getting a taste for producing after reading dozens of screenplays for television's earliest TV Movies. He spent another three years at Warner Bros. TV, first in publicity but soon graduating to program development where he was spotted by the agent Lee Rosenberg and encouraged to apply for an open slot in the ABC TV and miniseries department, where he impressed ABC veteran Brandon Stoddard and won a berth as a production executive. Rising quickly in the network ranks, Stu racked up eight years at ABC including successful stints as Vice President of TV Movies and Miniseries and at ABC Motion Pictures as Executive Producer of Worldwide Productions, when he helped John Huston adapt his screenplay for "Prizzi's Honor." Stu then became an independent producer, early on partnered with producer Frank von Zerneck and then on his own helming the Samuels Film Company. His story credits included TV movies about Marilyn Monroe and the crime drama "The Woman Who Sinned." He created the concept for the modern Western "Proud Men" starring Charlton Heston and Peter Strauss which he produced for ABC. and he was Emmy nominated for his production of Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein's "The Final Days" about the downfall of President Richard Nixon. After several more years of producing he retired in 1993.
