The 20 Best Disney Duos Of All Time, Ranked
Image
While there are a lot of Disney characters who easily stand out on their own, there are some iconic Disney duos that show how much fun a pair can be. Disney has always loved exploring friendship in their animated movies and they have done so successfully since the beginning of their run. However, even in their long history, some Disney duos rise above the rest and showcase those truly special pairings that have delivered laughs, heartbreak, and charm to audiences over the years.

Including all the Pixar movies alongside the animated Disney roster, there are a lot of notable pairs to choose from. There are some friends who clearly go back a long way, like Mike and Sully in Monsters Inc. Some start out with a lot of tension only to find common ground, like Moana and Maui. Of course, some Disney duos are just fun to watch sharing the screen,...

‘Adventure Time: Fionna And Cake’ Showrunner Adam Muto On Creating The Spin-Off & Making The Scarab To Avoid “Retreading What’s Been Done” In Multiverse Stories
Image
After the success of the original series, it was no surprise when Adventure Time: Distant Lands came to HBO Max in 2020 to flesh out some of the stories that were left to tell. For Adam Muto though, the characters of Fionna and Cake had a bit more story left than what could be told in a 44 minute special. So, in 2023, Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake released on Max with a ten episode season that was well received enough to garner a renewal for season 2.

A spin-off of the 2010 animated series, Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake follows Fionna Campbell (Madeleine Martin) and her cat Cake (Roz Ryan) who live in an alternate reality without magic. While Fionna spends her days at dead-end jobs and nights dreaming of magical lands, she and Cake are thrown into a multiverse-adventure when Simon Petrikov (Tom Kenny), formerly the Ice King, accidentally summons them to Ooo.

When Fionna & Cake Takes Place In Adventure Time’s Timeline
Image
Fionna and Cake is a spinoff of Adventure Time that follows gender-swapped versions of Finn and Jake, as well as Simon Petrikov. The spinoff takes place after the original Adventure Time series, as indicated by the appearance of adult Finn. Jake is confirmed to be dead in Fionna and Cake, and Finn is depicted as middle-aged with a longer beard.

A spinoff of the Cartoon Network classic Adventure Time, Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake takes place at a different point in time than the original series. While the source show centered on the misadventures of Finn the Human (Jeremy Shada) and Jake the Dog (John Dimaggio), the Adventure Time spinoff follows their gender-swapped complements, Fionna the Human (Madeleine Martin) and Cake the Cat (Roz Ryan), as well as Simon Petrikov (Tom Kenny), who was known as Ice King for the bulk of Adventure Time's run.

Kumail Nanjiani Says He Didn’t Receive Offer To Reprise Prismo Role In ‘Adventure Time: Fionna And Cake’: “They Never Told Me”
Image
Kumail Nanjiani will not be returning to the Adventure Time universe in the new spinoff Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake and that’s because he was never informed of the offer to reprise his voice role of Prismo.

The new Max animated series will not have Nanjiani voice Prismo, something that the Eternals actor would have loved to have done again.

“Yeah that’s not me. I would have loved to have voiced Prismo again. He’s one of my absolute favorite characters I’ve ever had the honor of playing. He is very close to my heart,” Nanjiani shared in a since-deleted post on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “Unfortunately they never asked me to come back and voice him again. I would have done it for free.”

Showrunner Adam Muto replied to the actor denying that the production hadn’t reached out to offer him the Prismo role again.

Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake Review – A Bold New Direction
Image
Following Adventure Time‘s conclusion in 2018, some storytelling doors were left wide open. One unexplored idea was the multiverse, which existed in the canon long before the modern era of TV and film had multiverse mania. In the latest At limited series, Fionna and Cake, that long-awaited promise die-hard fans anticipated is finally fulfilled thanks to the canonical gender-swapped characters. And it all happens in a bold new dimension unlike any Adventure Time series to date.

Much of the original show’s audience was around pre-teen to teenage ages. Those fans are now in their 20s, experiencing new adult emotions like depression and dissatisfaction that didn’t spin through their minds as children. That all corresponds directly to Fionna Campbell (Madeleine Martin), a Bridget Jones-esque young woman living in a small studio apartment in a non-magical, metropolitan town where many notable Ooo residents are human like her best friends...

This Is the Best ‘Adventure Time’ Episode To Watch Before ‘Fionna and Cake’
Image
With the release of Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake just around the corner, many fans of the original hit Cartoon Network series are rushing to Max or to their DVD collections to re-watch old episodes of the show. The chosen ones are most likely stories featuring Fionna (Madeleine Martin) and Cake (Roz Ryan). While there's nothing wrong with this, the five stories that comprise the Fionna and Cake canon in Adventure Time aren't the only ones that deserve a second look in the build-up for Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake. After all, the two gender-bent versions of Finn (Jeremy Shada) and Jake (John Dimaggio) are not the only characters of the original show that are featured prominently in the new series. From what we have gathered so far, Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake will have its titular characters teaming up with Simon Petrikov, also known as the Ice King (Tom Kenny...

‘Adventure Time’: Who Are Fionna and Cake?
Image
Who indeed are Fionna (Madeleine Martin) and Cake (Roz Ryan)? Some will say that they are nothing but figments of the Ice King's (Tom Kenny) imagination. The Ice King, on the other hand, will claim that they are very much real, no matter what naysayers may claim. For those of us who don't live in Ooo, however, the most sensible answer is that Fionna and Cake are two beloved characters from Adventure Time that are finally getting their own show. After a two-year wait since its announcement, Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake is coming to Max with ten half-hour episodes all about the life and times of Cake, the cat, and Fionna, the human. The show's setting seems a little different from what we got used to on Adventure Time, with it taking place in a city, and the new series will be targeted towards a somewhat older demographic,...

Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake Trailer Reveals Alternate Universe Twist On Beloved Animated Show
Image
The Fionna and Cake trailer takes a narrative left turn by primarily taking place in the real world, deviating from the original Adventure Time series set in Ooo. It is uncertain if the world depicted in Fionna and Cake is real or imaginary, with the characters' backstory remaining unexplored or in flux. If Fionna and Cake are fictional entities within the Adventure Time universe, the series could explore a different version of Ooo connected to the modern world, similar to Pixar's Lightyear.

The Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake spinoff series finally has an official trailer. The upcoming series, which will premiere on Max on August 31 with 10 half-hour episodes, presents an alternate universe from the world of Adventure Time, which followed the adventures of Jake the Dog and Finn the Human in a magical post-apocalyptic world. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Makkos opened up about Fionna & Cake, promising that the animated spinoff would certainly catch the interest of Adventure Time fans who have grown up watching the popular Cartoon Network series. She revealed that Fionna & Cake is part of the streamer's efforts to keep up with the current high demand for adult animation content. "The Adventure Time fans have grown up and people are still coming in the bottom, and they're aging up," Makkos said. "It felt like a perfect show for us. Tonally, it is very much Adventure Time, but Fiona's older. She's in the workforce. It's more adult, so I think it's going to bring in new fans, and it's also going to serve the fans that we already have.

Disney’s Hercules, and the challenge of casting
Simon Brew Nov 23, 2016

Jack Nicholson was originally in line for Disney’s Hercules – but 1989’s Batman movie scuppered it…

If you believe the rhetoric, then between The Lion King and the current resurgence for Walt Disney Animation Studios, Disney didn’t release an animated movie of any merit. I’ve long been one of those calling bobbins on this. Between The Lion King and, say, Tangled, we had The Hunchback Of Notre Dame, Mulan, Tarzan, The Emperor’s New Groove, Atlantis, Lilo & Stitch, Treasure Planet, Meet The Robinsons and The Princess & The Frog, for example. I’d argue there’s a mix of underappreciated and flat-out excellent movies in that lot.

And we also had Hercules.

1997’s Hercules wasn’t a raging box office success, and it was the first Walt Disney Animation Studios project to fall shy of $100m at the American box office since The Rescuers Down Under in 1990. Granted,...

Carolee Carmello deserves some kind of award for endurance, as she spends less than seven minutes off the stage for this song-heavy production and,...

Comedian And Radio Show DJ Rickey Smiley To Get Sit-Com On TVOne
I'm the first to admit that I'm not current on what's going on, and never have been; but what I do know about comedian and radio show DJ Rickey Smiley, is that he's a really big deal south of the Mason/Dixon line.
