“True to the Game” is coming to television, with Vivica A. Fox returning for another adaptation of the Terri Woods book trilogy.

The series, which will begin production in Los Angeles this fall, comes after three movie adaptations of the romantic crime drama. It promises to expand the franchise and bring “the electrifying love story of Gena and Quadir to the small screen.”

Fox, who played Shoog in all three “True to the Game” films, returns in the series alongside Sierra Capri (“On My Block”), Bentley Green (“White Men Can’t Jump”), Angell Conwell (“The Young and the Restless”) and Carl Anthony Payne II.

“True to the Game” follows Gena, an independent young woman who falls for Quadir, a charming and calculated kingpin. As their relationship blossoms, Quadir decides to leave the streets behind for love. He soon realizes that in the dangerous world of power and betrayal, walking away carries a deadly cost.

Nickelodeon has ended its live-action comedy Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan after five seasons and 85 episodes. The decision was confirmed shortly after the final episode of Season 5 aired on April 30.

Nickelodeon has opted not to proceed with a sixth season of its live-action comedy Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan. The news comes days after the series’ Season 5 finale premiered April 30.

“After five incredible seasons of Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan, we are officially wrapping production. We’re deeply proud of the entire cast and crew, as well as our amazing partners at Tyler Perry Studios, for the work they’ve created and the stories they’ve brought to life around this show,” Nickelodeon said in a statement.

Martin Lawrence may have taken notice of the success of the Big Bang Theory spinoff series Young Sheldon. The Bad Boys: Ride or Die star is bringing back his own sitcom in a similar manner, and it will even be called Young Martin.

Per Deadline, Lawrence and his production company, RunTelDat, are teaming up with Marvin Peart's WonderHill Studios for Young Martin. Unlike the original Martin, however, Young Martin won't be a traditional sitcom. The prequel will be a drama series with hour-long episodes, following a teenage Martin Payne as he navigates "the complexities of transitioning from youth to adulthood."

Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan is sticking around for more. Nickelodeon has renewed the live-action comedy series for a fifth season. Per Variety, production will begin on the 13-episode season next week in Atlanta.

The Young Dylan series, created by Tyler Perry, stars Dylan Gilmer, Carl Anthony Payne II, Mieko Hillman, Aloma Lesley Wright, Celina Smith, Hero Hunter, and Jet Miller, follows Young Dylan (Gilmer) as he rises in the music world while living with his aunt and uncle.

The Salvation Army Southern California hosted the 2024 Sally Awards Gala on May 30 at the Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel.

Sponsored by Hunt Enterprises and Priscilla Hunt, the event drew numerous celebrities, including Kym Whitley, DeVon Franklin, Carl Anthony Payne II, and Tisha Campbell, all supporting the cause. The gala honored Terry and Rebecca Crews with the esteemed Sally Award, and Bank of America received the prestigious Judge Harry Pregerson Award.

The gala aimed to inspire guests to join forces against homelessness in Los Angeles County. This gathering not only featured celebrity presence but also raised over $1 million, supporting The Salvation Army’s efforts to combat homelessness in the region.

Los Angeles faces a significant homelessness crisis with over 75,518 individuals struggling to find shelter and stability. The Salvation Army provides a range of programs for adults, at-risk youth, veterans, and seniors, helping them overcome addiction, seek recovery, and achieve sustainable living.

Exclusive: Carl Anthony Payne II, Acoryé White, Psalms Salazar (P-Valley), and Guxci (Night Games) have signed on to star in the indie horror feature The Grove.

The script is co-written by White and Patrycja Kępa, who will also co-direct under their Anchored Lens Productions company. The project follows the pair’s previous collaboration on 2023’s Trinket Box.

The Grove follows a soldier’s homecoming, which takes a dark turn when he forgets to take an experimental medication, triggering a deadly descent into animalistic madness. Sitting in a recreation of their set, Maritn Lawrence, Tisha Campbell, Tichina Arnold, and Carl Anthony Payne II, who starred as Martin, Gina, Pam, and Cole in the comedy that aired from 1992 to 1997, got into the spirit of the awards with a silly bit. “We finally about to get an Emmy!” Payne II rejoiced as the stars sat around the set recreation. “Yeah, we gettin’ our Emmy tonight. As a matter of fact, I’ve got my speech on deck too, all ready to go,” he added, pulling a paper out of his pocket. On the Emmys red carpet tonight a couple of Martin castmembers teased something big to come, and they weren’t kidding.

About 40 minutes into the broadcast, Fox – which aired the sitcom and tonight’s Emmys – brought in stars Martin Lawrence, Tisha Campbell, Tichina Arnold and Carl Anthony Payne II to present.

But first, the foursome did a bit that had Payne pretending he thought they were there to accept an Emmy, not present one. After the other cast members corrected him, Campbell said what many were thinking.

“Carl is not all the way wrong, you guys. I mean, we should have won an Emmy during our run,” she observed to big applause from the audience.

Lawrence then stepped forward to present the award for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, which went to Jeremy Allen White.
