Star Trek Reveals Klingons Are More Like Humans Than You Think
Image
Star Trek's Klingons are probably more like humans than you think, according to one scene from Star Trek: Lower Decks. In Star Trek: Lower Decks' season 5 finale, "The New Next Generation", the USS Cerritos and a small fleet of Klingon Birds of Prey are caught in a Schrödinger Field that transforms things into other versions of themselves from across Star Trek's vast multiverse. Captain Carol Freeman (Dawnn Lewis) sends over schematics to protect against the Schrödinger Field's changes, but the vindictive Klingon Captain Relga (Roxana Ortega) tosses Freeman's help out of the proverbial airlock.

Only the USS Cerritos' hull is left vulnerable to the Schrödinger Field's transformations, so the California-class Federation starship turns into different classes of Federation vessels, like the Sovereign class. Klingon starship design has stayed fairly consistent over the centuries, so it isn't as obvious that the Relga's Klingon Birds of Prey are subject...

Five Years Later, Star Trek: Discovery Klingons' Shocking Comeback Doesn't Mean What You Think
Image
Warning: Spoilers For Star Trek: Lower Decks' Season 5 Finale - "The New Next Generation"

The season 5 finale of Star Trek: Lower Decks, "The New Next Generation," features the shocking comeback of Star Trek: Discovery-style Klingons, five years later. Star Trek: Discovery's 2017 premiere brought multiple aesthetic changes to its mid-23rd century setting a decadebefore Star Trek: The Original Series. Rather than recreate Tos-style Klingons with smooth foreheads, Star Trek: Discovery's makeup artists developed a brand-new look that pushed Klingons' alien features even further. Discovery's Klingons were supposed to be what Klingons had always looked like, but could only be realized with modern technology and a bigger budget.

In the penultimate episode of Star Trek: Lower Decks' 5th season, "Fissure Quest", the collapse of a dimensional rift threatens the destruction of the entire Star Trek multiverse. Captain William Boimler (Jack Quaid) sends the universe-destroying beam of soliton...

Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 5 Finale & Series Ending Explained
Image
Warning: Spoilers For Star Trek: Lower Decks' Season 5 Finale - "The New Next Generation"Star Trek: Lower Decks' thrilling and resonant finale closes this chapter of the USS Cerritos' lower deckers' Starfleet careers, but not before the California Class starship saves Star Trek's Prime timeline. Written by series creator and showrunner Mike McMahan, Star Trek: Lower Decks season 5, episode 10, "The New Next Generation" picks up from the cliffhanger of Star Trek: Lower Decks season 5, episode 9, "Fissure Quest."

Lieutenant Harry Kim (Garrett Wang) piloting the Quantum Reality-jumping starship Beagle into a dimensional rift not only killed Kim, but it released soliton tachyon burst that could destroy the entire Star Trek multiverse. Captain William Boimler (Jack Quaid) sent the soliton beam into the Prime Universe with instructions to his Prime Universe counterpart, Lt. Brad Boimler, knowing the USS Cerritos could find a way to stop it. With the USS Enterprise-e unable to arrive in time,...

‘Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft’ Renewed at Netflix
Tomb Raider : La légende de Lara Croft (2024)
Netflix is plotting a new set of adventures for its version of Lara Croft.

The streamer has renewed its animated series Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft for a second season. The pickup was a relatively quick one, coming just two weeks after the eight-episode first season premiered.

Based on the long-running Tomb Raider video game franchise, The Legend of Lara Croft follows the adventurer (voiced by Hayley Atwell) after the events of Square Enix’s video game reboot trilogy. The show aims to fill in a gap in Croft’s story between the reboot trilogy (which served as something of an origin story for the character) and the original games.

Season two, per Netflix, will find Lara discovering a trail of stolen African Orisha masks. “She joins forces with her best friend Sam (voiced by Karen Fukuhara in season one) to retrieve the precious artifacts,” the logline reads.

'A Responsibility I Would Take Seriously': Marvel Star Ready to Return as Lara Croft in Next Tomb Raider Project
Image
Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft's Hayley Atwell is more than ready to continue Lara Croft's globetrotting exploits in the franchise's next iteration.

In a conversation with GamesRadar, the Agent Carter star spoke favorably about bringing Lara to life in Netflix's animated continuation of the Crystal Dynamics games and her willingness to star in future seasons. "I just had an absolute blast doing this with this creative team. I've loved working with [director Meredith Layne] and [showrunner Tasha Huo] on this, and having Netflix behind it," she said, adding, "It feels like an elevated animation [and] that they really want[ed] to get it right emotionally. I would be completely honored to carry on in some way, or to have Lara in my life in a different capacity, for sure." Atwell also shared her interest in playing Lara outside the cartoon, stating, "To continue to be involved or to be...

Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft TV Review: Hayley Atwell kicks ass as the video game icon
Image
Plot: Following the events of the Survivor series, Lara Croft has abandoned her friends to embark on increasingly more perilous solo adventures. But she must return home when a dangerous and powerful Chinese artifact is stolen from Croft Manor by a thief with an uncanny personal connection. Her daring pursuit will take her on an adventure around the world and to the depths of forgotten tombs, where she will be forced to confront her true self, and decide just what kind of hero she wants to become.

Review: The Tomb Raider franchise has always been stronger as a video game than it has been in live-action. The two Angelina Jolie-led feature films and the Alicia Vikander-led reboot were met with lukewarm reception. While the reboot hewed closer to the grittier tone of the more recent video games, none of the adaptations have captured the energy of Lara Croft...

A couple of weeks ago we showed you a humourous clip of producer Roger Corman and a beach sweetie in a scene from his upcoming 'Sharktopus' production for SyFy and now the 50% shark, 50% octopus, 100% deadly mother of the deep has got itself a new UK trailer. Shandi Finnessey Rocks Her Bikini in New Sharktopus DVD and Blu-Ray Trailer
I'm finding it very difficult to embrace Syfy's new range of low-budget TV horror movies, particularly the ridiculous water-based flicks such as 'Mega Piranha' or 'Dinoshark'. Well producer Roger Corman will see his latest mini-budget horror sci-fi movie 'Sharktopus' (yes the story of a Shark and Octopus hybrid killing machine) hit DVD and Blu-ray this March and a new trailer to help early promotions has been revealed. Eric Roberts ('The Dark Knight', 'The Expendables'), Hector Jimenez, Ralph Garman, Sara Malakul Lane, Brent Huff, Roxana Ortega and Kerem Bursin all star along with American beauty queen Shandi Finnessey (below). You can view the new blood and beach babe filled trailer (which exposes most of the likely major set peieces actually featured in the movie) below in which you can also drool over Finnessey dancing and screaming in her sweet-ass bikini....

Roger Cormans Sharktopus Coming To DVD and Blu-Ray Next March!
I'm not particularly a fan of the b-movie-esque attempts by Syfy of late. They look cheap and nasty and don't have any of the qualities true b-movies had from years back. It hit our TV screens a little while back and now its hitting DVD and Blu-Ray on 15 March 2011.
