Recensioni in evidenza
Luigi case divided people into two very polarised groups, the devoted supporters and critiques of his did, yet whole documentary is focused mostly around one point of view, trying to force the audience to condemn his actions and force very specific take on concept of morality basen only on the laws. And I see a huge the problem with that, because most of public opinion, which is a huge part of this case, did not agree with that rhetoric and mainstream was overtaken for a while by a discussion about the lawful practices of health insurance companies that are immoral and should actually be illegal, yet their massive involvement and justified anger directed at a group people who hurts them for the profit and appreciation to someone who acted in their defense and potentially may have influenced the industry is criticised, overlooked and downplayed by this production, as if they are trying to gaslight people about the course of extremely recent events and erase that part. Most of the guests presented have literally nothing to say except their personal opinion that suits the chosen narrative of documentary. The time I spent watching this was a waste, in those 40 minutes I could have learned much more about the case via internet without listening how HBO is going up the bum of big corporations.
"Who is Luigi Mangione" is pure exploitation, a blatant cash grab rushing to tell an unfinished story. It distorts reality, portraying Luigi as a rich kid with a cognitive deficit who spiraled out of control, which feels both lazy and sensationalized. The depiction of Brian Thompson was just as absurd-you can and should criticize the dead when they've done wrong. But instead of offering real analysis, the documentary thrives on cheap drama and speculation. It manipulates the audience rather than informing them, prioritizing shock value over truth. A documentary should seek facts, not fabricate them.
This "documentary" is a biases piece of garbage. Shame on MAX for this absolute trash, half-assed film. Brian Thompson was made out to be some sort of saint. They BARELY touched on the crimes of UHC and how their profits skyrocketed under the leadership of Brian Thompson and that he was under investigation of insider trading. Also I don't know where they found Casey Jordan but her performance was awful. She even goes so far as to call Luigi a Narcissist.
The only Narcissist is Brian Thompson. The only reason I would recommend anyone watch this is to get a better feeling for what an amazing, selfless human Luigi is.

Completely tone-deaf documentary. It's clear as daylight that the director wanted the audience to sympathize with the killing of the CEO, but in all honesty, it made me sympathize with Luigi even more.
The criminologist in question was meant to serve as the logic of the film but came across as arrogant and out of touch. She claims Mangione is a narcissist who acted on nothing more than selfish reasons. You would believe that someone who works in the justice system would restrain themselves from accusing an individual of a crime they have not been indicted. If anything, it truly shows how the oligarchs can spread propaganda for as long as it suits them.
To top it all off, we see a surprise appearance from Mayor Adams - who, mind you, is facing charges of corruption and bribery - yet he wants to preach about honesty and justice? Please.

Outstanding work. No credible evidence to hand over to Luigi's legal team, so they decided to try to sway opinions via some shabby HBO documentary. Glad they've decided to drop the false pretenses and state they prefer our country to run under the assumption that all citizens are guilty until proven innocent. They should really make a part two, letting them skim through the constitution and giving their unbridled opinions on what amendments they'd make to fit their narrative better. Do credit me, though.
And some harmless public info: Mayor Adams of New York has multiple current charges against him including bribery, conspiracy, fraud, and soliciting illegal campaign contributions. Despite the evidence, his corruption case has somehow been paused indefinitely as of late. Hmmm. It's almost like we're not all getting the same treatment here are we? Maybe we should all meet up at the Gracie Mansion sometime and talk about it.
