The musical composition of the series theme and season one was by Jóhann Jóhannsson in collaboration with composer and cellist Hildur Guðnadóttir. After the death of Jóhannson in 2018 Hildur Guðnadóttir has been lead composer for season 2.
At the end of season 2 there is a dedication to Johann Johannson (1969-2018).
Jóhann Jóhannsson, the composer of the main theme and the music for season 1, was the first person from Iceland to win a Golden Globe. He won this for the composing of the music for La teoria del tutto (2014).
He composed the music for Trapped together with composer and cellist Hildur Guðnadóttir (who also plays the cello in the theme).
Hildur Guðnadóttir has won the Golden Globe for film music in 2020 for the film Joker (2019).
