Reviewers say 'Down Cemetery Road' showcases strong performances, especially from Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson, and intriguing plot twists. Negative reviews criticize weak writing, overacting, and unrealistic characters. Some find the show's tone inconsistent and the dialogue cringe-worthy. Only two episodes had come out and people were ripping the series apart! I agree with the reviewer who said how nice it is to see Ruth Wilson again. She is a gem. I have loved her in everything I have seen her in. And Emma can do no wrong. I will agree that the first episode was confusing and at times, implausible. The second episode was much better and I watch each episode the evening it's released. We are now at Episode 6 and I love the series. I don't love the one episode a week thing. I just want to binge it!
I'm an enormous fan of Slow Horses and you can't compare the two shows whatsoever. They are incredibly different and honestly, Slow Horses is a masterpiece. This series has some jumping around plot-wise, but it still works great in its own right.
It actually took me five episodes of the first season of Slow Horses to really get into it and I don't give shows that long usually but I'm thrilled that I did because like I said, masterpiece. Anyway, give this a shot for sure! People shouldn't be allowed to write crappy reviews after only watching one episode!

The first episode is a bit of a mess. I'm glad I watched the second one. It was much better. There is a bit of a surprise in it, I won't give it away but, it isn't bad. Overall, I'm going to give it a few more episodes, although TBH this weekly thing Apple has, and Amazon, is a bit annoying. But, I'll keep watching, or maybe wait until it's down completely. Not sure yet.
First, it's so nice to see Ruth Wilson again. Having just finished rewatching Luther, it's refreshing to see her in this role.
Emma Thompson plays her character well.
She is such a versatile actress.
The visual effects in the first episode were impressive.
I find the 1st episodes interesting enough to continue the series. Interested in seeing where this goes!

OMG people get past the first episode, before reviewing I have seen so many series that didn't catch my attention in the first episode then became absolute firm favourites...I'm third episode in and now hooked, strong cast nothing is quite as it seems, as definitely not as predictable as I initially presumed which is always a delight.
I'm not sure what some people have watched, but there is truly some rubbish out there on tv at the moment, but this is not that. It has a decent story, intrigue, excellent cast and is well written. I was able to suspend my disbelief, was caught up in what is going to happen next. Here's hoping the following episodes are even better,

- QuizThe series is set in Oxford's suburbs, but production avoided filming there to leverage England's varied landscapes for the story's conspiracy thriller vibe. One Somerset railway station was briefly redecorated to evoke a "Scottish feel" for a single episode's tension-building sequence, but no actual Scottish locations were used. Later plot elements involve characters traveling to a remote Scottish island for climactic scenes, but these were likely shot on English sets or doubles rather than on location in Scotland.
