    2d Mario is back, BABY!!!

After almost two decades of getting New Super Mario Bros remakes for different systems with barely anything changed about them, I was not ready to give this game a chance at all. I played the original New Super Mario Bros for the DS and Wii, and I still love them both they hold up pretty well.

I played the sequel for 3ds and it was so uninspired and boring. I beat it in one sitting, I've never done that for any game ever. So the hype was really not that high for Super Mario Bros Wonder. But then I heard it was actually going to be different; new power ups, more playable characters, fun and creative gameplay, and I'm just going to say it; Wonder!

So I bought the game along with the Super Mario RPG remake for Black Friday and Wonder was for 2d Mario was Super Mario Odyssey was for 3d Mario! It's so fun and endlessly engaging, which is a miracle because I haven't said that about a Mario game since Odyssey.

This is a *WONDER*ful game that anyone of any age can get into and enjoy themselves. This game will bring out that childlike glee we all used to feel when we consumed media for children as kids.

My personal favorite part is that it isn't super punishing like the previous Mario Bros games. They ironed out the extra life problem from the older games where you would get so many extra lives that you were never in fear of getting a game over but at the exact same time, the difficulty of World 5 is so hard on Super Mario Bros U Deluxe that I actually got frustrated with it and put the game down indefinitely.

But this one gives you very little 1-Ups but also doesn't punish you for trying to complete a level and I never spent more than a few tries on a single level. It also gives you options; if you can't make it at this one level, don't worry, there's a couple others where you can't earn Wonder Seeds to progress the game. But if you really wanted to, you could spend all your time at these challenges that don't take away your lives but challenge your skills and it's so satisfying to finally get through it, it's almost like the adrenaline rush you feel when you defeat a SoulsBorne boss.

This will make a great addition to anyone's Mario game collection and it's one of Nintendo's best with new Mario content. It is well worth your $60.

    Wonder-ful.

It's been years since I properly played a 2D Mario Platform game, perhaps even all the way back to Super Mario World. The 3D one's I've been more involved with, but not a traditional one like this. And it's my loss, because this was a brilliant. A fun, imaginative and memorable time that will stay with me.

Seemingly bored with kidnapping the princess, Bowser uses the power of the Wonder Flower to merge with and steal the castle of Prince Florian, of the Flower Kingdom. As one of 12 heroes, you traverse levels capturing Wonder Seeds that reverse Bowsers dark magic and allow access deeper into the world. Each of the six Worlds has a Royal Seed, that destroys one of the cloud piranhas protecting Castle Bowser.

So, the basics of Mario games, established decades ago, remain. The aim is to travel from left to right across a level, jumping between platforms, avoiding or squashing enemies and make it to the goal. The variation this time comes from three new power ups, Drill Mario - who can dig into the bottom or top of a level and traverse along it; Elephant Mario, who can swat enemies with his trunk and hold water; and Bubble Mario, who can generate bubbles that trap enemies or can be bounced on to reach platforms. Each level also allows you to equip the character with a 'badge', variations of which can be collected as you play through the game - these may enhance existing skills, such as higher jumps or increased speed, or have another effect such as attracting coins to you or generating extra platforms to make levels easier. There's a real "Super Mario Bros. 2" (the "Doki Doki Panic" version) vibe in some of these, such as the badge that allows you to crouch and charge for a really high jump.

It's platforming perfection as you'd imagine from the company that has been making these for so long. Each level also has a second wonder seed that can be collected during the run. Each of these is found by activating a Wonder flower, which produces strange and imaginative effects on the level, such as the marching, singing, piranha plants, the pipes moving, or stampedes of enemies destroying the level. They are almost universally brilliant and stick around just long enough to divert and not overwhelm.

So, if it's so brilliant - and it is - why have I given it 8 out of 10 and not 10. The difficulty is the reason for that. I took one mark off because the game is generally quite easy, you can effect this a little, with your character and badge selection and I'd urge you to be careful with that if you can, trying to stay away from playing as Yoshi too much, or using a real 'cheat code' badge, like the extra blocks one, but even then it's still a breeze to get through. Except that is for the special world level "Climb to the Beat" that easily took 200 lives off me as I struggled to get through it. I took another point off just because of how staggeringly harsh that level is compared to the rest of the game.

It's brilliant overall though, even with those frustrations. Just a staggering good time and I'm already looking forward to the next 2D Mario game I can play.

Wowie-Zowie! This game is indeed fun and wonderful! 👍👍

We've waited for a new Mario game to come to the Nintendo Switch. Well, it happened! Ta-da! It's Super Mario Bros. Wonder! Wow!

The animation of this game is beyond incredible. Even the music of this game is awesome. I like the story of this game so far. Prince Florian is a cute character. We can also play as Daisy, one of the Yoshis or Nabbit. I've noticed that there is no time limit so we don't have to worry about any countdown while journeying through. The concept of this game is like Yoshi's Island. So far my favorite power-ups are the elephant and bubble flower.

It's too bad that Charles Martinet is not voicing Mario and Luigi anymore but I'm glad that he is now the ambassador for Mario. Probably my siblings and I can see him again in other comic cons for autographs and pictures. I know that his last voicing role was on The Super Mario Bros. Movie as a cameo. He passed the torch to Kevin Afghani. I've read his bio that he did some voice acting roles. This gives a new and fresh role for the franchise. Although Charles may have retired from his voice acting roles he will always be Mario in hearts.

So my brother and I actually love and enjoy playing this game. Maybe in the future there will be new platforming games. Perhaps a game based off from the animated movie.

    Lives up to its name

I had so much fun with this game. It genuinely excited me in a way that recent Mario games have not, and it did it with an infectious soundtrack, inventive gameplay, and gorgeous graphics. The animation is something new to the series and having gone back to NSMBU that game now feels lacking in feel. Levels and are short and sweet, and a little light on challenge at times. Some levels feel like they could have been rooms down a pipe in another level, but each one showcases a new idea or power up in a fun way. There is a special world that can be found through your travels, and the challenge there increases and will test your skills, particularly the last couple of levels which throw you into every power up and modifier in the rest of the game. The game successfully lives up to the series' past glory, and we can only hope they keep this magic alive in an inevitable sequel.

This is the worst Mario Game ever!!!

I really hate this game. It follows Mario going on a really dangerous adventure. This game is so hard that I really hate it. However, the Too Bad movement makes me think of the Playdate with Winnie the Pooh episode "Eeyore and the Paint set" where Pooh and Eeyore sing "Brand New Colors But Mixing the ones we have". Super Mario Wonder has really hard characters to play as. This game makes me think of a Yoshi in the castle and there's some spikes and Yoshi touches them. There are some moles in the game, too. The moles speak rubbish to the player like "Yahoo!" and "Hey! Wanna see something cool?" These diolags are maybe in the 1st level...

With this game, Mario and Luigi were recast, making it the first mainline Super Mario game to not have Charles Martinet as their voice actor.
