When Anurag Basu was writing the film he wanted to take story of Irfan Khan and Konkana Sen forward from original.But after death of Irfan Khan it didn't work but payed a tribute to him as Pankaj Tripathi's character is called Monty.Which was name of Irfan Khan in Metro (2007).
