During production of season one the show was referred to as Secret Stash.

AMC asked Kevin Smith to call the show Comic Men in an homage to Mad Men (2007) as seen on The IMDb Show (2017). As revealed on Tales behind the fake counter, Bryan suggested they call it Comic Book Men. They filmed at least the first two openings with Kevin Smith calling it Comic Men and they had to cut away and ADR him saying Comic Book Men.
During the opening credits, when Walter (as the Godzilla-like monster) swats away a plane, the famous Wilhelm scream is heard.
