The film was inspired by real-life stories that happened in England and hit the European press in 2011, revealing long-term police missions of eco-infiltrators, some of them even had children with eco-activists before disappearing.
This is the fourth collaboration between actors François Civil and Lyna Khoudri. They had previously worked together on the French dub of the animated film Lightyear - La vera storia di Buzz (2022), and played the couple D'Artagnan and Constance in I tre moschettieri - D'Artagnan (2023) and I Tre Moschettieri - Milady (2023). Despite co-starring in popular films and box office hits with big budgets in a short span of time, Civil and Khoudri didn't do any magazine cover nor photoshoot together to promote these films, which was a very unusual thing since both of them are very popular actors in France and have stated in interviews that they're close friends, and actors who play a couple in one or more films usually do at least one photoshoot together to promote their film(s), which didn't happen with Civil and Khoudri. No official reason was given for that, and they only did press junket interviews together. The fact that Khoudri is Algerian may have influenced this decision, as French audiences aren't very approving of interracial relationships, and there was some racist backlash online when Civil and Khoudri played a couple in these films. However, right after The Three Musketeers: Milady was released in December 2023, both Civil and Khoudri appeared on magazine covers with their respective co-stars from other films.
Disney+'s first original French film.
Originally broadcast by Disney+ in France, the film made its television debut on the French TV channel W9 on March 20, 2025 and was watched by over 400,000 people.
Director Romain Cogitore spent a lot of time at a ZAD (Zone to Defend in France) living with environmental activists in order to make the film more credible. Cogitore had the permission of the activists and explained the project to them.
