Some press releases in advance of release gave the title as "The Gallows Pole: This Valley Will Rise" but the phrase "This Valley Will Rise" was not used in the on-screen titles, listings sites, or the BBC iPlayer catchup site.
In the BBC press release dated 8th September 2021, it announced that production was now underway on the 6 part drama. Cast to include Michael Socha, Thomas Turgoose, George MacKay, Tom Burke, Sophie McShera, Cara Theobold, Yusra Warsama, Samuel Edward-Cook and Anthony Welsh.
However the BBC press release dated 26th April 2023 states that its a 3 part drama and George MacKay and Tom Burke are no longer listed as appearing in the show.
