"I Have Spent So Many Years Doing Marvel": Elizabeth Olsen Says She Needs To Prove She Has Good Movie Taste Post-mcu
Image
Elizabeth Olsen has appeared in the MCU since 2014. In addition to her superhero work, she has also appeared in a variety of projects that showcase her acting talents. But despite her impressive resume and acting credits, it seems the actress has something to prove, and no, it has nothing to do with her being a supposed "nepo baby."

In an interview on the NPR Podcast Wild Card, Olsen shared that she felt like she had to prove her movie taste to people. She stated that back in the day, when the Iron Manmovies were coming out, she saw them as great storytelling and that it was able to reflect on politics and culture. But now, as Marvel Studios has become a movie-making juggernaut, the views on superhero films have shifted. Due to this, despite enjoying her time playing Wanda Maximoff in the MCU, she felt like the other acting jobs...

The story of Seven Sisters is one of a large, tight-knit family that begins to unravel when a sister (Olsen) starts communicating with a voice no one else can hear, forcing each of them to confront long-buried secrets. Why Cherry From Marvel's Daredevil: Born Again Looks So Familiar
Image
With all due respect to the Russo Brothers, we're here today to talk about a very different kind of "Cherry." Marvel's "Daredevil: Born Again" might be making headlines for bringing back -- and occasionally killing off -- certain characters from the Netflix series, but don't underestimate the new additions to the supporting cast. Even among these newbies, performances by Nikki M. James as legal partner Kirsten McDuffie or the late Kamar de los Reyes as Hector Ayala/White Tiger have certainly taken the fandom by storm. Yet the entire creative team has one key cast member to thank for arguably the show's best and most welcome new element: Clark Johnson as the always reliable, even-keeled private investigator Cherry.

Thus far, we've seen Cherry emerge as one of the standout characters in Matt Murdock's (Charlie Cox) close circle of allies. One of the very few individuals to become aware of Matt's secret identity as Daredevil,...

Krysten Ritter Joins Dexter: Resurrection in Serial Killer Role

The third season of the series is now set to tell the true story of serial killer Ed Gein with Sons of Anarchy actor Charlie Hunnam, but while fans wait for that to come out in a couple of years or so, there are some other true-crime dramas that are very well worth checking out if you got bitten by the true-crime bug.

American Crime Story Series

Before Monster was even a show, creator Ryan Murphy had another anthology series called American Crime Story that followed real-life crimes that became the center of huge scandals.

After the consecutive years of working on Marvel projects, Elizabeth Olsen recently talked about finding other projects that she can explore outside of the superhero realm. She stated, “I don’t want… it’s not that I don’t want to be associated as just this character. But I really feel like I need to be building other parts back up for balance. 6 Horrific Details About Betty Gore's Death (& How Close Love & Death Gets To It)
Image
Love & Death depicts the Betty Gore murder in a realistic and chronological manner, emphasizing the "why" rather than creating mystery. Candy struck Betty 41 times with an axe, with 28 blows to her head, showcasing the heinous nature of the crime. Betty's infant daughter was asleep and unharmed during the murder, highlighting the tragic circumstances surrounding the event.

This article contains mention of murder.

Love & Death discloses some horrific details about the Betty Gore crime scene, raising the question of how accurate the show's depiction of the murder is to the real-life crime. HBO Max's Love & Death is not the first series that attempts to capture the gruesome nature and the tragic circumstances of Betty Gore's murder as it follows Candy released a year earlier. What really makes Love & Death's portrayal of true crime stand out is its ensemble cast and attempt to dig deeper into the motives and...

Elizabeth Olsen's MCU Break Sure Seems To Be Paying Off Already
Image
Elizabeth Olsen's break from playing Scarlet Witch in the MCU allows her to explore diverse film and TV roles outside the franchise. Olsen's post-mcu roles in the film His Three Daughters and limited series Love & Death prove the MCU needs her more than she needs it. Olsen's return to the MCU is unclear but possible, though the actress may want to pursue her successful career outside the MCU.

A well-earned break from her long-standing role as the McU's Wanda Maximoff has allowed Elizabeth Olsen the room to explore new and exciting roles in film and TV. Olsen debuted as Wanda Maximoff's Scarlet Witch, in the McU's Avengers: The Age of Ultron following an uncredited cameo appearance in 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier. As is the case for most of the McU's cast superhumans, Olsen reprised her character over the years in multiple movies, including Captain America: Civil War,...

Krysten Ritter Explains How Her ‘Breaking Bad’ Death Paved the Way for ‘Orphan Black: Echoes’
Image
It’s now been 15 years since Krysten Ritter’s Breaking Bad arc came to a tragic, series-altering end. But that eight-episode run in season two of the beloved AMC series continues to bear fruit for the actor.

Last night, she made her return to the home network of Breaking Bad as the star of Orphan Black: Echoes — a spinoff of Tatiana Maslany’s mothership series that picks up 37 years later. Created by Anna Fishko, Ritter’s new character, Lucy, instead of being a clone, was recently printed into existence by a four-dimensional printer. And, despite her best efforts to create a well-adjusted life for herself in just two years’ time, she’s soon forced to piece together the puzzle of who she really is and why she was created.

The road to Echoes truly began with Ritter’s Breaking Bad character Jane Margolis, who went from Jesse Pinkman’s (Aaron Paul...

I Did Not Realize Jake Gyllenhaal Has Been In So Many Good Thrillers
Image
Gyllenhaal shines in dark thrillers like Zodiac and Nightcrawler, proving his versatility in Hollywood. "Presumed Innocent" marks Gyllenhaal's TV debut, adding to his streak of acclaimed performances. Gyllenhaal's portrayal of complex characters like Louis Bloom in Nightcrawler showcases his brilliance as an actor.

Jake Gyllenhaal's latest project Presumed Innocent is yet another great thriller in the celebrated actor's filmography. Gyllenhaal has become one of the most recognizable movie stars on the planet who has surprisingly yet to win an Academy Award or an Emmy for his efforts. Presumed Innocent marks Gyllenhaal's television and streaming debut, which is shocking in and of itself considering the actor earned his first professional acting credit with 1991's City Slickers. Presumed Innocent's positive Rotten Tomatoes score continues Gyllenhaal's recent streak of starring in critically acclaimed movies, and now, television series.

Adrian Arredondo & Myrna Perez Prepping Doc ‘Take It Away’ On Tejano Singer & TV Host Johnny Canales
Image
Exclusive: Johnny Canales, the famed Tejano singer and Mexican American TV host who passed away on June 13, is the subject of Take It Away, a new feature doc from Adrian Arredondo and Myrna Perez that has entered production.

In a moment when Latino music and artists like Peso Pluma, Grupo Frontera, and Bad Bunny are dominating the charts, the film explores the origins of Latin music’s rise through The Johnny Canales Show — a space where, beginning in the 1980s, every Latino in America felt seen, free to be unapologetically themselves, and part of a larger movement.

Ushering in the golden age of Tejano music and the “Decade of the Hispanic,” Canales and his TV show became a microcosm of the Latino experience in America.

The film will be exec produced by Texas Monthly and Trojan Horse Media, as well as Arredondo and Perez. CAA Media Finance reps worldwide distribution rights.
