On July 10th, 2021, Bo Burnham announced on his Instagram that Bo Burnham: Inside (2021) would receive limited theatrical screenings for one night only on July 22nd, making it the first Netflix comedy special to ever receive theatrical distribution. Due to how quickly shows sold out and high consumer demand, many theaters added additional showtimes and extended the run from one night to the entire weekend.
