Riepilogo
Reviewers say 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' garners mixed reactions. Praised for faithfulness to the books, casting, and character relationships, it faces criticism for pacing, development, and plot deviations. Action scenes and dialogue receive mixed feedback, while changes to character traits and looks disappoint some fans. Despite issues, many hope for future improvements and closer adherence to the books.

Well, it's here. The first two episodes are out, and here are my early thoughts.
I've been excited for Season 2-although I'll admit it snuck up on me. Overall, it's good, but it doesn't feel like a step up from Season 1. As a longtime fan of the Percy Jackson books (even though I haven't reread them in years), I still enjoyed returning to this world.
What really carried these first two episodes for me was Leah Jeffries' emotional performance. She absolutely steps up this season and brings real depth to Annabeth. Walker Scobell continues to be strong and reliable as Percy, and Daniel Diemer does a wonderful job as Tyson, adding warmth and heart. The supporting cast also delivers solid performances across the board.
From a technical standpoint, the production quality looks great, and the CGI is genuinely impressive. That said, the season so far feels very familiar-almost like we're watching Season 1 again rather than seeing a clear evolution in storytelling or tone.
Overall though, - as a fan - I'm excited to see what quest the Lightning Thief will go on next!

As someone who has read the books ten times over I couldn't be more disappointed by this show. The number of times I found myself shaking my head and laughing at various scenes in disgust is so unbelievably shocking to me, as I was realizing that I enjoyed the movies more than this show.
With Rick Riordan himself spearheading this show I expected to get what I've been waiting for since I was a kid, but the terrible acting and changes to the story made me unable to make it through episode three. Annabeth is completely unconvincing (zero redeeming qualities) and is easily the worst casting in the show. I also find myself actively rooting against Percy, he's so unlikable it's comical. Hearing his voice just angers me.
The second I reach the Medusa scene I had to stop watching. How Rick saw the negative effect changing the story had on the movies and decided to repeat that same mistake is baffling.
I tried to give it one more shot and simply couldn't. The show is unwatchable, plain and simple. This is never making it to season two. I can't even blame Disney for this one, Rick failed us.

I waited a long time for this series. I watched the entire thing and didn't really feel it. I mean the story line is a lot closer to the book that the attempted movie adaptation. But I think the cast is not ready or not directed well. Though the movie lost the original story, the actors and actress did a better job. But I have to put in consideration that the ages of the three protagonists are accurate, I'm afraid they didn't capture the essence of the characters. I didn't feel them. Of course they were very young so I guess I better put that into consideration. I hope they'll do a better job with the Sea of Monsters or the show might not last another season.
I feel like I'm being a little generous by giving this 6/10 stars, but I wanted to give this show the benefit of the doubt. But overall, I was sadly disappointed with the series. I'm a huge fan of the books, but I felt the show was so much more inaccurate to the books than what it should've been. There were SO MANY things that they changed from the book that felt completely unnecessary. The creators of this series kept saying that this show was gonna be much more accurate to the books than the movies that they made about 11 to 12 years ago. But as a whole it seemed like it was only a little bit more true to the source material. There were so many storylines and plot points that they kept adding that had nothing to do with the book. I was ok with them changing a couple things to keep the audience guessing or to add more context. But it feels like they changed everything just because they could, not because they needed to. I was really excited to watch this when it came out, but honestly it wasn't nearly as as good as I feel it could've been.
The personalities for characters Percy and Annabeth are so far off it hurts. I thought the big deal on this was that these actors were supposed to embody the characters so well, that looks didn't matter! Three episodes in and I'm not impressed. They made some weird changes to the story to shoehorn this snarky and combative new Percy in.
Percy starts off as whiney and clueless. No one is explaining things to him until he sounds like an idiot, and has stuck his foot in his mouth. He's rude, and not at all funny or caring about other people. Annabeth isn't supposed to be his best friend yet - but she is so hostile.
Whoever wrote the screenplays for these episodes needs to reread the source material.
The Aunty Em's storyline changes was a complete wasted disaster. I hope Disney would do better.
