Years prior, Juhi Chawla sued the producer's of the project "Mahashakti". She had signed a film titled "Jannat" later titled "Vaada Hain Milan Ka" opposite Aditya Pancholi in 1989. Juhi Chawla's fee for the film were not paid in full and the court put a stay order on the film not to release. Until the fees were not paid, the film was not to be released. In 1995,new tele serial named " Mahashakti" started to air on television. The serial starred Adita Pancholi and Juhi Chawla and directed by Deepak Sharma. Juhi was shocked as she had not ever signed any TV serial in her career, that to directed by Deepak Sharma. Upon further investigation, she realized it was the unreleased film Jannat/ Vaada Hain Milan Ka that was now being sold to Doordarshan as a tele serial. She took legal action against the producer's for illegally releasing the film. They producers did not have legal consent to release the film. They added the fake name Deepak Sharma as the director just so no one would realize it was the same unreleased film. Juhi was angered by this as she did not want to associate herself with any TV serial. she felt it would harm her career as she was a top actress in films at the time.
