Eventually, Italian President Giorgio Napolitano solved the matter giving his personal approval to the movie. In the Italian version, however, a disclaimer appears at the beginning of the movie clarifying that the circumstances of the slaughter as seen in the film are a fictionalized version of a real historical event, and proceeds to explain the actual happening.
