Originally, the episodes were intentionally aired/shown out of sequence. What was shown as Episode 01 is actually Episode 11. In the 'coming soon' blurb at the end of each episode, Haruhi gave the chronologically correct number of the next episode, and Kyon 'corrected' her by giving the 'wrong' episode number - the one that corresponds to the order it is being shown in. When new episodes were produced in 2009, the whole series aired again, this time in chronological order.
The high school is modeled after Hyogo Kenritsu Nishinomiya Kita High School, which is Nagaru Tanigawa's alma matter. The school has since had troubles with trespassing that it's had to issue warnings of prosecution against curious fans.
In one Episode, Haruhi wants to make a Movie that pays homage to Sailor Moon when she tells Mikuru to make the Same pose as the Title Character from the series. Stephanie Sheh, who voices Mikuru, would later go on to see play Sailor Moon in the English Dub of the Series by Viz Media.
