Regardless of what he said or what the world thought (or still feels) about superhero movies, no one can deny their influence on the film industry. And Gotham’s most considerable, darkest Vigilante is here to defend that status with his life.

Christopher Nolan’s “Dark Knight Trilogy” was ironically a cinematic masterpiece. It was the most significant turning point for superhero movies and a piece that redefined cinema forever. For those upset by this diminishing of the Caped Crusader into an Arkham-worthy lunatic, let it be known that Gunn’s Batman is inspired straight out of the original comics. In the earliest versions after Batman’s debut in Detective Comics #27 (1939), the billionaire vigilante was an amalgamation of dark, violent, and disturbing.

The director revealed to the Filmmaker Toolkit podcast (via IndieWire) that a single four-minute clip from Ricky Gervais‘ Life’s Too Short series that featured Liam Neeson in a deadpan role was enough to convince Akiva Schaffer to helm the directorial chair for The Naked Gun.

Cineworld is doing something really special this August. They’re bringing back eight of Christopher Nolan’s biggest movies to IMAX screens across the UK and Ireland.

That means fans can see these epic films again the way they were meant to be seen, huge, loud, and totally immersive.
