The second season (series in Australia) was shot in colour and featured a completely different cast than the first. Its first broadcast in Australia came during a repeat screening of the first season or series.
With the exception of the pilot episode, the actors, production manager, director, producer and story writer (the latter shown superimposed over the first scene after the opening titles) were the only credits to be shown with full names. Other crew members were presented with only their given initial and surname.
Most of the cast and crew credits were shown during the opening titles. This was unusual for a TV series but more common at the time with movies released in cinemas. The only closing credit was a "The End" card that credited the production and association companies, superimposed over either a boomerang graphic in the pilot episode (which only credits the production company and is accompanied by the narrator speaking the title) or the final scene.
Most of the filming for this series took place at weekends or during school holidays due to the age of the younger cast members.
The cast and crew gave the Victorian town of Woodend, where much of the filming for the series took place, the nickname "Hollywoodend".
