Gregory Smith (Greg) revealed in an interview that a lot of the Earth scenes were shot at his actual high school that he was attending at the time. Some of his real life friends from the school were cast as extras.

An online petition to continue production on the made-for-TV movie received nearly 42,000 signatures before the head of the Disney Channel's televised film department announced that the film would not be made.
