Oscar nominee and Golden Globe Award-winning sensation Rosamund Pike is one of Hollywood's most sought-after actresses. Over the course of her career, Pike has gracefully exhibited her talent as a wide-ranging artist. Pike's first on-screen credits involved a myriad of British period dramas A Rather English Marriage (1998), BBC's Wives and Daughters (1999), and BBC's serial drama Love in a Cold Climate (2001).

Jim Parker, a four-time BAFTA-winning composer whose credits included the original House of Cards and Midsomer Murders, has died aged 88 after a long illness.

Parker’s daughter Claire Parker issued a statement earlier today confirming the news and paying tribute.

“He wore his talent lightly and had a quiet passion and great sense of humour,” she said. “His ambition was, first and foremost, for audiences to enjoy his music. He was both well-respected and well-liked within the music and television industry, writing so many memorable theme tunes, and always giving 100% commitment.”

Born in Hartlepool in 1934, Parker started his career in a Britsh army band. He subsequently composed the music for Banana Blush, an album he made in 1974 with the poet John Betjeman, before turning to TV.

Pike made her screen debut in the TV film "A Rather English Marriage" (1998)...

She played 'Bond' girl 'Miranda Frost' in "Die Another Day" (2002), won acting awards for The Libertine (2004) and portrayed 'Jane Bennet' in "Pride and Prejudice" (2005).

Touching, frustrating, and ultimately a tribute to friendship, A Rather English Marriage is one of those stories that has much depth and strength. The action is presented in a most understated manner, but with such care and skill that it is difficult not to simply rave about the production. The story begins with a double tragedy, Squad Leader Reggie Conyngham-Jerivs (Albert Finney) and Roy Southgate (Tom Courtenay) lose their wives within minutes of each other in the same hospital. LONDON -- Shed Media, the independent production house behind Supernanny, Fat March and Footballers' Wives continued its spending spree Thursday, saying it has acquired leading British rival Wall to Wall Prods. for 25 million pounds ($51.2 million).

Shed, which acquired Twenty Twenty Prods. for 19 million pounds ($39.1 million) in September and also owns Ricochet, said that Wall to Wall will be "an excellent fit" for its burgeoning U.K. and stateside business.

"Wall to Wall has some of the most successful television brands around, and Alex Graham, who joins the Shed board with immediate effect, will make a great contribution to growing the group," Shed CEO Eileen Gallagher said.

Added Graham: "What I like about Shed is that it understands that commercial success is built on long-running program brands, and I'm looking forward to playing my part in creating the next generation of hit Shed shows."

Wall to Wall is one of the U.K.'s most respected production companies, creating the hit genealogy show "Who Do You Think You Are?" as well as such factual hits as Frontier House and award-winning dramas including A Rather English Marriage and Our Boy.
