Globo TV aired two episodes in one night of this show intending to not lose in ratings for a SBT broadcast of Rambo (1982). Silvio Santos fired back by putting the movie only after the episodes finished, with a TV ad: "Don't worry! You will watch 'Rambo' once Globo's show is over!"
The first Brazilian series to create the concept of letting the audiences curious in knowing "who's the killer" of a main character on the same fashion as Dallas (1978) and who killed J.R. Odette Roitman's murderer would not be unmasked until the finale.
Gilberto Braga got the idea of this series from a discussion during a family dinner. One of his relatives commented that his godfather was "mediocre and a jerk" for getting no wealth from working as a police chief. Braga recollected that his godfather was recognized as an honest worker. Thus, the story was conceived based on being honest in a distorted country, where this is seen as stupidity.
Named one of the two best Brazilian TV dramas by the news magazine Veja, along with Avenida Brasil (2012).
