10 Actors Who Got Famous Playing Villains and Are the Nicest People in Real Life
Image
You, like most of us, must have watched a movie or series where the antagonist is played so convincingly that you start to hate the character and even the actor. That’s when you know someone is really good at their craft. Some actors are so effective in these roles that they end up getting typecast again and again.

Take Tim Curry, for example. He’s been “the bad guy” for decades: The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Legend, It, Home Alone 2, Congo—the list goes on. He’s played so many sinister roles that it’s easy to forget he’s ever done anything else. But those who’ve...

When Sandra Bullock Revealed She Regretted Being Part Of This Film: “I’m Still Embarrassed”
Image
Which Film Does Sandra Bullock Regret Making? ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

Sandra Bullock doesn’t sugarcoat it: she still regrets being part of Speed 2: Cruise Control. In a chat about her new film The Lost City, where she teamed up with Channing Tatum, Bullock took a stroll down memory lane and admitted that her 1997 sequel to Speed is one project she wishes she could forget.

When TooFab asked about past films she was embarrassed by, Bullock didn’t hold back. “I have one no one came around to and I’m still embarrassed I was in. It’s called Speed 2,” she revealed. And honestly? She’s right. The film’s plot—a slow-moving cruise ship heading toward an oil tanker—is not exactly what you’d call thrilling.

Speed 2 Had A Disastrous Reception

The film’s reception was just as sluggish as the ship itself. Without Keanu Reeves...

Sandra Bullock’s 16% Rated Movie Turns 20 That Made Her Hate Sequels With a Passion
Image
In 2005, iconic actress Sandra Bullock starred in a sequel to her 2000 film, titled Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous. Yeah, the movie was a failure. That said, Sandra Bullock never had much luck with sequels to begin with (just look at Speed 2: Cruise Control).

Miss Congeniality 2 received mixed reviews, with largely negative reviews from the critics. The film managed to achieve a rating of 5.2/10 on IMDb and a low rating of 16% on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite the negative publicity, Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Dangerous managed to have a cult-following over all these years. Well, the Sandra Bullock movie just turned 20 years old in 2025.

Even the actress has revealed to Too Fab that she still gets embarrassed when someone mentions Speed 2: Cruise Control.

I have one [that] no one came around to, and I’m still embarrassed I was in. It’s called ‘Speed 2’. I’ve been very vocal about it.

'M3GAN 2.0' Producer, 56, Explains Why the Campy Sequel Failed
Image
M3GAN 2.0 has disappointed fans and fizzled out at the box office. While the original feature created a social media frenzy unlike any other and made it one of the profitable horror flicks of the year, the sequel heavily underperformed in equal measure. The movie is produced by horror specialists Jason Blum and James Wan, both of whom were behind M3GAN, as was director Gerard Johnstone. In a new interview, Blum reflected on what went wrong with M3GAN 2.0.

“We all thought M3GAN was like Superman. We could do anything to her,” Blum said on The Town with Matthew Belloni podcast. The sequel introduces the idea of a military-grade weapon known as Amelia, which is designed to be the ultimate infiltration spy. However, as Amelia, like its predecessor, goes rogue and Gemma decides to resurrect M3GAN, making it faster, stronger, and more lethal. Probably the concept did not sit well with fans,...

Jurassic World Rebirth Rotten Tomatoes Score: Scarlett Johansson’s Reboot Mauled By Critics Harder Than The Dinosaurs
Image
Jurassic World Rebirth Rotten Tomatoes Score ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

The Scarlett Johansson-led ambitious Jurassic World: Rebirth is about to enter the theater screens. With less than a week to its Independence Day premiere, the Gareth Edwards directorial had been inciting speculations in its hesitance to lift the review embargo in a timely fashion. And the reputation has preceded its next misadventures! The Jurassic Park sequel hasn’t been warmly received by critics. Its susceptibility to repetitiveness over originality has weighed it down.

The Jurassic Era Nears Its End? Here’s What Rotten Tomatoes Says

Based on 98 reviews, Jurassic World: Rebirth currently holds a 54% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. When it comes to Jurassic Park sequels, audiences and critics have been echoing alike that maybe the franchise has run its course and it’s time to put the dinosaurs to sleep. And once again, critics have not deviated from this message.

When Sandra Bullock Admitted Speed 2 Was Her Biggest Career Regret & Said Even Fans Couldn’t Save It
Image
Sandra Bullock Slammed Speed 2 As Her Worst Film(Photo Credit –Prime Video)

Sandra Bullock is still haunted by a cruise ship. Not literally, but metaphorically, thanks to Speed 2: Cruise Control, a film she flat-out regrets.

The 1997 sequel to Speed swapped a speeding bus for a slow-moving cruise liner, and us audiences never quite forgave it. While Speed was a legit action classic that helped solidify Bullock and Keanu Reeves as stars, Speed 2 stumbled hard. Critics panned it. Fans ignored it. And Bullock’s… well, she’s still cringing.

Sandra Bullock Owns the Flop, Keanu Reeves Walks Away, and Speed 2 Sinks, But Not Their Stardom

In an toofab interview promoting The Lost City with Daniel Radcliffe, Bullock admitted that there’s one project she’s genuinely embarrassed about. Noting how no one ever came around to loving the sequel, she called Speed 2 “a slow boat, slowly going towards an island,...

Speed 3: Things Would be Different If Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock Says Yes to Another Speed Movie
Image
Before there were superheroes saving the world, and stopping buses with their bare hands every weekend, there was a bus that they did not come to save, and if it dropped below 50 mph, boom. That’s Speed in a nutshell. And somehow, that wild setup turned into one of the biggest action hits of the ’90s.

With Keanu Reeves playing the cool cop and Sandra Bullock as the driver, Speed raced into theaters and blew past expectations. It cost under $40 million to make and made nearly $350 million worldwide. Critics loved it, and so did the fans.

Given its runaway success, a sequel was inevitable. Speed 2: Cruise Control thus arrived with Bullock reprising her role, but Reeves opted not to return. Unfortunately, the sequel failed to replicate the original’s impact, both commercially and critically. Now there’s talk of a third film, and if both stars say yes,...

Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock to Have 'Speed' Reunion in Romance Thriller
Image
Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock are reuniting for a new feature film, nearly two decades after they last starred in a movie together. The duo will be back in action, but this time, they're mixing the thrill of Jan de Bont's 1994 pulse-pounding classic Speedwith a touch of romance, reigniting the chemistry they exuded on-screen throughout their (extremely) long-distance relationship in Alejandro Agresti's 2006 love story The Lake House, to star in an as-yet-untitled "propulsive" romantic thriller currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios.

The wheels are in motion on the romantic thriller, but plot details are still under wraps for now. However, the script is in safe hands with Noah Oppenheim, who wrote the 2016 historical drama Jackie and recently co-created Netflix's political thriller Zero Day, starring Robert De Niro as former U.S. president George Mullen. Oppenheim is also producing the next Reeves and Bullock team-up with Sarah Bremner via Prologue Entertainment,...

Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves Set for Romance Thriller with ‘Speed’ Producer 30 Years Later
Image
Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves are speeding towards a “Speed” reunion exactly 30 years after the film was released. The duo, who also famously co-starred in sci-fi romance drama “The Lake House,” will be back onscreen together with an untitled thriller for Amazon MGM Studios. And don’t worry, there is yet another romance component as well for this “propulsive” feature…

THR first reported the project, which IndieWire confirmed.

Plus, “Speed” producer Mark Gordon is producing — and according to Amazon, he is responsible for bringing the feature to both Reeves and Bullock. “Zero Day” co-creator and “Jackie” scribe Noah Oppenheim is penning the script, as well as producing. Gordon and Oppenheim first brought the idea for the film to Reeves and Bullock, who both went on to develop the film with them. Bullock’s Fortis Films, Reeves, Bibby Dunn at The Mark Gordon Company, and Sarah Bremner with Prologue Entertainment are also producing the film.

Keanu Reeves & Sandra Bullock Reunite For New Romantic Thriller 19 Years After Last Movie Together
Image
Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock will reunite for a new romantic thriller almost two decades after their last collaboration. Released in 1994, Speed marked the first collaboration between Reeves and Bullock, with the hit action film memorably featuring a premise involving a bomb on a bus that will explode if the vehicle goes under 50mph. Reeves opted not to return for the 1997 sequel, which saw Bullock reprising her role as Annie, but the two did eventually work together in 2006 with The Lake House, a supernatural romance.

Per THR, Reeves and Bullock are now attached to star in an untitled film that is currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios. The romantic thriller will feature a script from Noah Oppenheim, who recently co-created the hit Netflix show Zero Day starring Robert De Niro. While no plot details have been shared just yet, the project has been described as "propulsive." The movie will...

George Clooney, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Alicia Silverstone, Uma Thurman, and Chris O'Donnell in Batman & Robin (1997)
Ain’t It Cool News goes down, likely not coming back this time
George Clooney, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Alicia Silverstone, Uma Thurman, and Chris O'Donnell in Batman & Robin (1997)
The (in)famous film website Ain’t It Cool News goes offline, 29 years after it first launched. More on the story here.

One of the original movie websites, and certainly the highest profile, was Ain’t It Cool News, often shortened to AICN. Launched all the way back in the mid-1990s, there was a brief window of time where it became a huge thing in Hollywood, at a point where movie studios were failing to understand the internet.

It attracted some really good writers, not least including screenwriter C Robert Cargill, although it was ultimately built around the personality of its founder, Harry Knowles. His style of writing went very much against that of the time, as did reports of test screenings, giving the first hints that movies such as Batman & Robin and Speed 2: Cruise Control were not on the good side.

Knowles became something of a Hollywood celebrity,...

‘Another Simple Favor’ Trailer: Blake Lively Cons Wedding Guests with Anna Kendrick in Paul Feig’s Sequel
Image
With Paul Feig’s highly anticipated sequel to the beloved 2018 film “A Simple Favor” going abroad, it seems that chaos has charted an international flight.

Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively reprise their respective roles for “Another Simple Favor,” with Lively’s character Emily getting remarried in Italy seven years after the events of the first film. The official synopsis reads: “Stephanie Smothers (Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (Lively) reunite on the beautiful island of Capri, Italy, for Emily’s extravagant wedding to a rich Italian businessman. Along with the glamorous guests, expect murder and betrayal to RSVP for a wedding with more twists and turns than the road from the Marina Grande to the Capri town square.”

Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Elizabeth Perkins, Michele Morrone, Alex Newell, Elena Sofia Ricci, Henry Golding, and Allison Janney co-star.

“Another Simple Favor” opened the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival with its world premiere. Feig directs and produces the film,...

Viola Davis at an event for Suicide Squad (2016)
G20 review | Viola Davis kicks ass, Hollywood explains crypto
Viola Davis at an event for Suicide Squad (2016)
Viola Davis turns into an action star in G20, as Hollywood grapples with Bitcoin and cryptocurrency. Here’s our review.

I am the worst possible reviewer for a film like G20. I look at it, and fully appreciate that in the 1990s the script would have gone to Nicolas Cage. In the 2000s, to The Statham, and by the late 2010s, it’s Gerard Butler’s. I’d watch each version of those, obviously.

In 2025, G20 accepts the trade-off that Viola Davis (deservedly) gets the lead role, but it’ll be bypassing cinemas and instead be a heavily-backed streaming release instead. It’s not the ideal quid pro quo, but still: G20 is thoroughly enjoyable bollocks. The casting of Viola Davis is, of course, inspired. She could kill Liam Neeson in the Taken films with a mild glance, and I’d recommend exploring spin-off films where she takes down traditional action stars.

Sharon Stone Says She Was Removed ‘Unexpectedly’ from ‘Another Simple Favor’ Cast
Image
Sharon Stone is throwing stones at “Another Simple Favor.”

Director Paul Feig’s sequel film stars Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick, reprising their roles from 2018’s “A Simple Favor.” However, Stone claims she, too, was part of the ensemble cast.

“I Loved being cast and removed from my role unexpectedly for no reason at all Loved it,” Stone wrote to an E! News Instagram reel about the film. Stone was in talks for the role that later went to Elizabeth Perkins. A source close to production confirmed that Stone was never actually cast in the film; the deal did not go through due to budget issues. IndieWire has additionally reached out to representatives for Amazon MGM Studios and Stone.

The rest of the ensemble includes Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Michele Morrone, Alex Newell, Elena Sofia Ricci, Henry Golding, and Allison Janney.

“Another Simple Favor” premiered at SXSW as the opening night film.

Why Did We Never Get ‘Miss Congeniality 3’?
Image
Miss Congeniality, starring Sandra Bullock, Michael Caine, and Benjamin Bratt, remains one of Bullock's best performances. As Gracie Hart, Bullock is an FBI agent transformed into a beauty pageant contestant — despite her abhorrence of the events. The tomboy-turned-knockout competes at the Miss United States Pageant to investigate threats and violence against her fellow contestants, with pratfalls and gaffs at every turn.

The success of Miss Congeniality resulted in a sequel in 2005. Released five years after the original, Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous, united Bullock with Regina Hall in a female buddy comedy. Gracie Hart, too high-profile to be an effective FBI agent, becomes the face of the Bureau with Agent Sam Fuller (Hall) as her partner.

The first Miss Congeniality earned Bullock a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress, was a huge box office success, and was fairly well received by critics. The sequel was far less successful and,...

Dylan Sprouse's Die Hard-Like Action Movie Is Breaking Netflix's Top Charts
Image
By now the "'Die Hard' on a"-style movie is basically its own genre. John McTiernan's legendary 1988 actioner spawned more imitators than perhaps any movie in Hollywood history. Many action fans know, for instance, that "Speed" is essentially "Die Hard on a bus," and its follow-up, "Speed 2: Cruise Control," literally was supposed to be "Die Hard 3" before its script was rejected in favor of the "Die Hard with a Vengeance" screenplay. "Cliffhanger" is "Die Hard" on a mountain, "Air Force One" is "Die Hard" on a plane. Heck, even today we're seeing the movie reproduced in the form of Netflix thriller "Carry-On," a Christmas action movie which is essentially just "Die Hard 2" with Taron Edgerton and Jason Bateman.

While many of these imitators are excellent action movies in their own right, the "Die Hard" formula doesn't always produce such quality. Take "Aftermath," a new movie...

Keanu Reeves & Sandra Bullock's 'Speed' Is a Major Streaming Hit on Max
Image
As amazing as Keanu Reeves is in the John Wick franchise, The Matrix: Resurrections, Toy Story 4, and even Sonic the Hedgehog 3, sometimes you just can't beat a classic. Ask anyone what Reeves' best action movie is, and you might get a few answers, including Point Break, The Matrix, or maybe even Constantine. But one film that you're guaranteed to hear is Speed, the 1994 action classic that temporarily gave the entire country a fear of buses.

Speed is enthralling audiences once again on streaming, as Max users can't get enough of Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock driving a bus and stopping a domestic terrorist (Speed was a wild movie!). The movie is currently putting in a strong showing on Max's Top 10 most popular movies of the week -- if it drops below fifth place, it might explode. Directed by Jan de Bont, Speed stars Reeves as Jack Tavern, a...

Maybe it's their own performance, or maybe it's something else entirely. Sometimes, it's even because of a serious social issue.

In the cutthroat world of Hollywood, there's no doubt it takes guts to apologize for a movie. There's a chance it could get film producers angry, and they're the ones putting up the money. But fans appreciate the candor, and maybe they'll go see the next movie the actor puts out.

Updated by Arthur Goyaz on January 31, 2025: Because some movies don't perform well or simply age badly, actors might feel inclined to apologize for taking participating in them. It's always okay to acknowledge past mistakes, regardless if they are personal or professional mistakes. This list was updated to include more actors...

When Keanu Reeves’ Gut Feeling Saved Him From The Speed 2 Disaster
Image
Why did Keanu Reeves pass on Speed 2? (Photo Credit – Facebook/Prime Video)

Keanu Reeves made one of the smartest career moves ever by giving Speed 2 a hard pass. The first Speed was an absolute adrenaline rush, a steady ride of shambles and outbursts. So when they announced a sequel, everyone just assumed Reeves would be back for more but nope, he slammed the brakes on that one.

Instead of him racing against time, we got Jason Patric as Sandra Bullock’s new on-screen boyfriend. Not precisely something fans were hoping for. Reeves took one look at the script and knew it wasn’t exemplary. So, he trusted his gut and walked away. And guess what? He was right.

Why Keanu Reeves Opted Out of Speed 2

When Speed 2 dropped, everyone presumed Keanu Reeves would be back as Jack Traven. After all, he was a major reason the...

The Closest Thing to Speed 2 Keanu Reeves Would Ever Do – John Wick Star’s Next Movie Will Require Him to Save a Plane in Chaos
Image
Jan de Bont’s Speed was a massive blockbuster success for 20th Century Studios, and more than that, it made Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock international stars. With the fame and money that the franchise made, it’s only logical to expect a sequel. Unfortunately, the John Wick star opted out of it.

Without Reeves, Speed 2: Cruise Control tanked at the box office, but it was more of a deficiency in the script. This is why the actor did not return—he wasn’t feeling it, in plain speak. Now, he’s got a new project that almost feels like it is set in the same atmosphere as Speed.

The Subtle IMDb Homage to Homer Simpson Forgetting the Title of ‘Speed’
Image
Homer Simpson is a man of many talents: Downing countless Duff beers at Moe’s Tavern night after night without so much as a hangover. Slacking off at work while never truly losing his job. Dumping so much pig crap into Lake Springfield that the Epa encased the entire town in a glass dome, turning it into essentially a giant snow globe.

A deep knowledge of movie trivia, however, cannot be counted among these skills, as Simpsons fans — who apparently include the overlords at IMDb — discovered during Season Eight’s “The Springfield Files.”

“I saw this in a movie about a bus that had to speed around the city, keeping its speed over 50, and if its speed dropped, the bus would explode!” Homer told Lenny and Karl of his ploy to get out of work using loops of old security footage during the 1997 episode. “I think it was called The Bus That Couldn’t Slow Down.

It’s Hard to Imagine Sandra Bullock Winning a Razzie Award but She Set a Record That Might Never Be Broken Again
Image
It’s hard to believe, but the queen of charming rom-coms and edge-of-your-seat thrillers Sandra Bullock, once strolled into Razzie history like it was her personal red carpet. Back then, she didn’t just take home a Razzie; she made history with the kind of record that still feels impossible to match.

Why Keanu Reeves Did Not Return for Speed 2 but Sandra Bullock Did: Explained
Image
Let’s rewind to 1994. Speed became an instant classic, throwing us into the high-stakes drama of a bus wired to explode if it dropped below 50 mph. It had it all—especially Keanu Reeves as the heroic cop Jack Traven, Sandra Bullock as the witty passenger Annie Porter, and a plot that kept us hooked.

Naturally, fans couldn’t wait for a sequel. But then came Speed 2: Cruise Control in 1997. And, well it wasn’t what anyone hoped for. The high-speed bus was swapped for a slow-moving cruise ship, and Reeves didn’t return.

So, why did our beloved Jack Traven ditch the sequel, leaving Annie Porter to awkwardly flirt with a new guy? Turns out, the lead star had some solid reasons, and honestly? He dodged a bullet—or maybe a sinking ship.

Keanu Reeves’ reason for skipping...

Was Tom Hanks Almost Cast As Jack Traven In Speed (1994) Instead Of Keanu Reeves?
Image
Tom Hanks almost replaced Keanu Reeves in Speed? (Photo Credit – Instagram/Wikipedia)

Back in the early ’90s, Tom Hanks was in talks to play Jack Traven in Jan de Bont’s iconic action-thriller Speed, instead of the iconic Keanu Reeves.

Hanks passed on the project, though the reason remains unclear. His career choices show a preference for depth-driven films like Saving Private Ryan and Road to Perdition. Speed’s action-packed thrills likely didn’t fit his narrative-focused style.

But Hanks wasn’t the only megastar to sidestep the role. Tom Cruise also turned it down before Reeves snagged the part. At the time, Reeves had gained some buzz from Point Break and Bill & Ted, but Speed catapulted him into Hollywood’s action elite. By the time The Matrix rolled around, Reeves was untouchable in the genre—and Speed was a big reason why.

When Sandra Bullock Called Speed 2 “An Embarrassing Experience”: “I’m Still Embarrassed I Was In It”
Image
Sandra Bullock Reveals Speed 2 Regrets ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

Sandra Bullock has no qualms about admitting that Speed 2: Cruise Control is a movie she wishes she could undo. In a chat, while promoting her movie The Lost City, Bullock openly revealed, “I have one no one came around to, and I’m still embarrassed I was in. It’s called Speed 2.” And honestly? She’s not wrong. The 1997 sequel to the blockbuster Speed had a sluggish plot that might as well have been cruising in reverse.

For those who somehow missed it, Speed 2 centered on a slow-moving cruise ship heading straight for an oil tanker. You read that right: a boat, not a bus, and the threat? Not a bomb, but an inevitable collision. Talk about an underwhelming follow-up to the high-octane Speed (1994), where Bullock’s character, Annie, and Keanu Reeves Jack had to keep a bus...

Forget John Wick 5, This Is The Sequel Keanu Reeves Needs To Make Next
Image
Keanu Reeves has seen his career go from strength to strength through the power of sequels, and his next sequel should be Speed 3. Speed was one of the best action movies of the 1990s, and like many great action movies, it had a simple premise. A city bus is rigged to explode if it goes below 50 miles per hour, while an LAPD officer and a passenger work together to bring the situation under control. Neither Keanu Reeves nor Sandra Bullock were considered action stars at the time, and Speed added a new dimension to their careers.

Speed was a critical and box office success, and while Keanu Reeves was not in Speed 2: Cruise Control, the sequel starred Sandra Bullock, who reprised her original role as Annie. Unfortunately, Speed 2 was critically panned, earning just a 4% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie was such a failure that many fans and critics disowned it.

From Neo To Nowhere: How Keanu Reeves Went From Fame To Flops Before His Epic Comeback With John Wick
Image
Why Did Keanu Reeves Land In A “Movie Jail?” ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

Keanu Reeves is known for crazy comebacks, but according to Looper, before John Wick, he faced “movie jail” after turning down Speed 2: Cruise Control. The phase came after Reeves reached heights of success for playing Neo in The Matrix and the iconic Jack Traven in Speed. Fox rushed for a sequel after Speed became a $350M hit. But Reeves, who felt burnt out and craved new challenges, said no. That choice sidelined him for years until he finally reclaimed his action-hero throne with John Wick.

Fox had grand plans for Speed 2. Sandra Bullock was on board, lured by the promise of financing her passion project, Hope Floats. The plot swapped the original’s adrenaline-pumping bus for a cruise ship nightmare, but Reeves wasn’t sold. Why? “I didn’t want to do two action movies back-to-back,...

Why Keanu Reeves Was Not In Speed 2 And What Happened To His Jack Traven Character
Image
The original launched Keanu Reeves as an action star, but he passed on Speed 2 with good reason. While he had fronted Point Break a few years earlier, it was Speed that transformed Reeves into an action lead. The movie's success led to all the Keanu Reeves action movies that followed, but he was wise enough to pass on 1997's Speed 2: Cruise Control when it was offered. This saw Sandra Bullock return as Annie, with Jason Patric replacing Reeves as new hero Alex as the couple become trapped on a cruise ship seized by a vengeful hacker.

Speed 2 was a critical and commercial disaster, and sits at only 4% on Rotten Tomatoes and it barely recouped its budget. Bullock has confessed more than once that Cruise Control was a huge mistake, while Reeves appeared like a genius for passing on it. That's not to say his decision didn't come...

15 Actors Who Trashed Their Own Movies
Image
When an actor stars in a film, their promotional responsibilities are often written into their contracts. They have to appear on talk shows or post about the film on their social media accounts ... or even just not say anything bad about the production, no matter how the film turns out.

With the benefit of time, though, many actors look back on their work and want to let fans know that they were just as disappointed as we were. An actor trashing their own movie lets us know that they're human just like the rest of us, and that they too can tell when something just didn't work. It can also make for a great press anecdote. Take Dennis Hopper, for example, who told The A.V. Club that his son once asked him why he bothered to star in "Super Mario Bros." The "Easy Rider" star recalled telling his son, 'Well,...

Keanu Reeves Action Thriller ‘Speed’ Finds New Streaming Home Next Month
Image
“Pop quiz, hotshot…” Where can fans feel the need for Speed (1994) again? Well, Keanu Reeves’ highest-rated action flick begins streaming Dec. 1 on Hulu. Director Jan de Bont’s film, Speed, registers an almost perfect Tomatometer rating of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of this writing, which just edges out another Reeves fan-favorite, John Wick: Chapter 4 (94%).

Armed with its impressive Rotten Tomatoes score from the critics, it’s easy to see how Speed lucratively burst onto the scene well over 55 Mph back in 1994. The must-see action flick boasted an incredible cast that featured not only Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock, but showed off the acting talents of Dennis Hopper as the villainous Howard Payne, while also featuring the heartbreaking demise of Jeff Daniel's character, Harry.

All the ingredients came together to create the perfect storm for Reeves and his cast members, as Speed showed strong at the box office...

Netflix Is Remaking the Action Thriller That Inspired 'Speed'
Image
Netflix continues to deliver the action in 2025. This time, the streaming giant will reboot the action thriller that went on to inspire the beloved 90s Keanu Reeves outing, Speed. Superbly titled Bullet Train Explosion, the project is one of several upcoming movies being made by Netflix to showcase its international efforts.

Set to be directed by Shinji Higuchi and starring Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, Bullet Train Explosion will follow a similar, adrenaline-fueled plot to both the original and director Jan de Bonts 1994 outing with audiences thrown onto the titular train, which cannot reduce its speed...otherwise itll explode. You can check out further details about Bullet Train Explosion below, courtesy of Deadline.

Bob Odenkirk’s First Look in Nobody 2 is Gritty But It Needs to Avoid a Common Mistake That Sank Many Action Movie Sequels
Image
Bob Odenkirk has come a long way from exclusively being a comedian. Although he has been known to table in comedy from time to time, the actor has gained a reputation for his dramatics a lot more than he has for his jokes. After starring as Saul Goodman in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, he has become an icon in the world of action and drama.

So much so, that he is heading his own series after the end of his beloved spin-off. The first Nobody film, released in 2021, impressed fans in more ways than one. The film was successful enough that its sequel, Nobody 2, has had fans more than a little excited.

With the first look at the upcoming film having just been released, there are more than a few possibilities that can happen with this sequel, and not all of them are good.

Sandra Bullock and Jason Patric in Speed 2 - Senza limiti (1997)
Roger Ebert’s Surprising Praise for a Film with a Shockingly Low 4% on Rotten Tomatoes
Sandra Bullock and Jason Patric in Speed 2 - Senza limiti (1997)
When Speed 2: Cruise Control arrived in theaters in 1997, most audiences and critics steered clear of giving it any positive acclaim. The film, directed by Jan de Bont, received a dismal 4% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, making it one of the least-loved sequels of its time. Gone were the high-stakes thrills of a runaway bus hurtling through the streets of Los Angeles. Instead, the setting shifted to a cruise liner, a sprawling but somewhat less high-octane environment that many felt lacked the pulse-pounding urgency of the original film. While this change disappointed most viewers, one notable critic took a refreshingly unconventional approach in praising the film—none other than Roger Ebert, who gave it an almost affectionate review.

In Speed 2, Sandra Bullock returns as Annie, now in a new relationship with LAPD Swat officer Alex (Jason Patric). While on a tropical cruise together, they face the unexpected threat of a vengeful villain,...

Why Denzel Washington Rejected A Role In Terminator 2: Judgment Day
Image
In James Cameron's 1991 ultra-blockbuster "Terminator 2: Judgment Day," two sentient robots are sent back in time to the present, each given a specific assignment. The evil T-1000 (Robert Patrick) has been sent to murder the 12-year-old John Connor (Edward Furlong), as John will eventually grow up to lead a successful resistance against the Machines in a soon-to-come humans vs. robots war. The outmoded T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger), once a fighter for the Machines, was captured by the futuristic human resistance, reprogrammed, and sent back in time to protect John Connor from the T-1000.

The script for "Terminator 2" delves deep into causality and the origins of the Machine takeover, set to occur in 1997, by the film's timeline. It seems, however, that there is a causality loop in play.

At the end of the first "Terminator" film, Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) crushed a previous Terminator robot in a hydraulic press, as...

Speed Writer Believes Keanu Reeves Saved His Career by Avoiding Sequel
Image
Graham Yost, the writer of action extravaganza Speed, claims that he and Keanu Reeves were lucky to avoid the sequel that could have sent their careers downhill. Speed 2: Cruise Control is a famously bad sequel and only a few came back for it, Sandra Bullock and director Jan de Bont, among those. Bullock managed to continue her career, but de Bont failed to recover.

Speaking to Comic Book about Silo Season 2, Yost remembers dodging a bullet with the catastrophically bad result of the Speed sequel. The question about a new sequel always arises, and the writer addresses the difficulty of bringing Bullock and Reeves together one more time. The problem is that Speed 2: Cruise Control seems to linger in the air as the nail in the coffin for the franchise. Per Yosts answer about a new Speed:

There is also just the echo of Speed 2, and thats...
