It was on the sets of the film Waqt Hamara Hain that Anupam Kher allegedly got over friendly and misbehaved with Mamta Kulkarni's sister Mithila. Various versions of the story soon followed. When news got to Mumbai media, Anupam was extremely angry. Worried about his reputation,he approached Stardust magazine and said he would bring Mithila to their office and sit down with her so she could clarify nothing happened. Stardust agreed but wanted to speak to Mithila first alone. Anupam refused the idea. He then warned them not to carry the story in any of their forthcoming magazines. Stardust went ahead and printed the story of how Anupam got drunk and misbehaved with Mithila. A few months later Anupam bumped into that same journalist on the sets of Parampara. Anupam Kher slapped the reporter (Troy Ribeiro)on the face.This would cause controversy and make the press all come together and ban Anupam Kher from all the magazines. Anupam Kher maintained his innocence regarding the allegation and later regretted slapping the journalist.
