Greta Scacchi and Lou Diamond Phillips were originally cast to play the lead roles of Ann Hecker and Doug McDowell respectively, but both immediately dropped out of the project.
Gene Siskel chose it as the worst movie he saw in 1992. Roger Ebert never reviewed it because he took a vacation that covered the very, very brief period when it had a fairly wide release in Chicago, and after he came back he asked Gene about it. He found the description from his colleague so funny, and thought the movie sounded so stupid, that he decided not to bother seeing it at all.
The movie was shot in 52 days in New York City.
The film was originally going to be produced by MCA Television Entertainment (MTE), with Universal Pictures set to distribute.
