With this series Edward Hardwicke took over the role of Dr. Watson in the various Jeremy Brett "Sherlock Holmes" TV series and films following the departure of David Burke, who played the Watson role in Le avventure di Sherlock Holmes (1984).
Edward Hardwicke originally wore "lifts" so as to be closer in height to Jeremy Brett. Unfortunately Hardwicke found it very difficult to walk wearing them, so they were disposed of.
