Kirstie Alley and Parker Stevenson were married to each other during the filming. They divorced several years later.
Filming of this mini-series resulted in three marriages amongst the cast and crew. James Read and Wendy Kilbourne, who played opposite each other, married in 1988 and now have two children. Jonathan Frakes and Genie Francis, who had previously played opposite each other on the failed NBC soap opera Bare Essence (1983), also married in 1988. Lesley-Anne Down married Assistant Cameraman Don E. FauntLeRoy in 1986. They met when both were married to other people, and eventually obtained divorces.
While most of the cast from Nord e sud (1985) returned for Nord e sud II (1986), there were a couple of changes. Billy Hazard is played by John Stockwell in Part 1, and by Parker Stevenson in Part 2. Isabel Hazard is played by Wendy Fulton in Part 1, and by Mary Crosby in Part 2. Billy Hazard didn't appear in the much-hated Heaven & Hell: North & South, Book III (1994), but Isabel Hazard was played by Deborah Rush making her the only "North & South" character to be played by three different actresses.
Parker Stevenson (Billy) and William Schallert (Robert E. Lee) are both members of the Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew universe as Frank Hardy and Carson Drew respectively.
