Upon doing this show, Vincent Price joked that he worked with every master of horror with Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, John Carradine and now Scooby-Doo.
Vincent Van Ghoul was modeled after the Marvel Comics superhero Dr. Strange and actor Vincent Price, who provided the character's voice.
For this series, Daphne and Shaggy were given new ('80s-style) re-designs. This was the only time Daphne appeared with hers, but Shaggy sported his new look in not only this series, but also in the three TV-movies (Scooby-Doo e i Boo Brothers (1987), Scooby-Doo! e il lupo mannaro (1988), and Scooby-Doo e la scuola del brivido (1988)) that aired in the late '80s.
This was the last Scooby-Doo series for which Heather North voiced Daphne it was because Heather North wanted to leave the film industry and focus on her personal life and she was ready to move on from playing Daphne after so many years.
13 Ghosts (1960) was a horror film directed by B-movie genius William Castle. Vincent Price was a frequent star in Castle movies, but not that one. The remake I 13 spettri (2001) featured Matthew Lillard, whose performance got him noticed to play Shaggy in Scooby-Doo (2002), a role which he reprised in later projects, eventually succeeding Casey Kasem as the character's regular voice.
