JoBeth Williams turned down a supporting role in the Robert Redford picture Il migliore (1984) to star in this film according to an article published in the 23rd August 1983 issue of 'The Los Angeles Times' newspaper. This was because she wanted to make a movie like Sciarada (1963). She said: "I think audiences are ready for a film with a romantic background."
