Was released in Japan under the title Gone in 60 Seconds 2, as a sequel to Gone in 60 Seconds (1974), even though none of its characters reprise their roles, though both movies share the same plot elements.
Dianne Marchal (who also sings the film's theme song) was cast in the movie as Billy's psychic lady friend Mira, who has a one night stand with Joe Don Baker's character. Her scenes were later re-shot with Lana Wood as the psychic and her name was changed to New Blossom. The shower scene was also re-shot as the original version had female nudity and Wood is seen coming out of the shower wearing a towel. Due to a contract agreement with Interamar (the co-production company), the European version includes Marchal's scenes intact while the U.S. release features the Lana Wood re-shoots.
The stunt with the Mercedes-Benz jumping over the police cars at the motorcycle track did not go as planned. The car made a nose dive into the dirt, totaling it. The finished product has it landing on its wheels, though in a somewhat rushed way.
