Composer John Barry composed approximately 40 minutes worth of score for the film. After much of the score was cut out of the film having been deemed, in the words of a Paramount executive, "too mature for the film,", and replaced in large part by songs written by Cat Stevens and Paul Williams, Barry took his name off the film. His score, heard in its entirety, would not be released commercially until 2013 via a limited edition from La-La Land Records.
