The title is based on the 1921 song "I'm Just Wild About Harry" with lyrics by Noble Sissle and music by Eubie Blake. Written for the Broadway show "Shuffle Along", it was also used in the 1948 presidential race for President Harry S. Truman.
Audiences of the time would have recognized the early version roller skates shown. These attached to the wearer's shoe and required a skate key for size adjustment. Although shoe skates were becoming popular, thanks to Roller Derby on TV, these skates were hugely popular in the baby boom years. Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Donald O'Connor, Charles Chaplin, and Gene Kelly all performed cinematic numbers using these skates.
The pneumatic tube system Tom is sent through was a common feature in older businesses. It was used to transport cylindrical containers that held paperwork and other items.
The toy and game department features the popular backyard pastimes of the postwar suburban era: ping pong, tennis, badminton and croquet.
Tom makes a very Grinch-like face several times here. Which is hardly surprising, since Chuck Jones worked on this short as well as the original Grinch cartoon the following year. He may already have been experimenting with characterizations.
