When Jonas picks up Archie and goes to the Thrifty drug store to make a phone call, you can see the May Company Wilshire building in the background. Built in 1939 and located at 6067 Wilshire Blvd. at S. Fairfax Ave., it is a superb example of "Streamline Moderne" architecture. After a $250M renovation, it is scheduled to become the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in 2017. The location of the Thrifty drug store is now occupied by the City National Bank building at 6100 Wilshire Blvd.
The firm of Cannell & Chaffin, Inc. listed in the opening credits as supplying furniture for the film was a high-end furniture and interior design business founded in 1917 in Los Angeles. It was located at 3000 Wilshire Blvd., and was hired by William Randolph Hearst to furnish his estate now known as Hearst Castle. Joseph Cannell, one of the founders of the firm, was the father of Stephen J. Cannell, television writer and creator of such shows as A-Team (1983) and Agenzia Rockford (1974). Evidently the firm filed for bankruptcy and went out of business in the late 1980s.
After leaving the drug store, Bill goes by the fashionable Mullen and Bluett clothing store that was located at 5570 Wilshire Blvd. Built in 1949, it was demolished in 2006 to make way for an apartment complex.
According to Hedda Hopper's column from December 11, 1950, this film was originally to star Cary Grant.
