Yosemite Sams line from this cartoon, "Varmit! I'm a-gonna blow you to smithereenies!" was used in a mysterious radio transmission which appeared on December 19, 2004.

In this film, Yosemite Sam is cast as a Hessian soldier in the American Revolutionary War (1775-1783). The Hessians were German soldiers who served as auxiliaries to the British Army in several major wars of the 18th century, and who had a reputation for being more disciplined than the typical soldiers of their era. While they came from many small and relatively poor German states who lend their armies to the British government for a fee, they were called "Hessians" because 65% of the auxiliaries came from the German states of Hesse-Kassel and Hesse-Hanau. An estimated number of 30,000 to 37,000 Hessians fought in the American Revolutionary War, comprising approximately 25% of the British land forces. The Hessian troops included elite Jägers, hussars, three artillery companies, and four battalions of grenadiers.
