Contrary to popular belief, this film was not withdrawn from circulation at Frank Sinatra's behest, as he had no say in the matter. His own family has gone to great lengths through the years to dispel this rumor.
After the film was withdrawn from circulation, there was a failure to renew the copyright and it fell into the public domain. As a result, in the early years of home video, the film became widely available from a number of discount/public domain labels.
This is supposedly the film that Lee Harvey Oswald watched just a few days before allegedly assassinating President John F. Kennedy.
