The film's original director was Irving Cummings with Dorothy being played by Constance Cummings. After some scenes were shot, George Fitzmaurice replaced Cummings as director, and Loretta Young took over the role of Dorothy, with all previous scenes re-shot.
The two leads in this movie Ronald Colman and Loretta Young would win their only Academy Award in the same year in 1947. Ronald Colman would win Best Actor for Doppia vita (1947) and Loretta Young would win Best Actress for La moglie celebre (1947)
While George, the Wire Fox Terrier in this film, does resemble the famous Asta from the Thin Man films, it is not him. Asta (real name Skippy) was born in 1932 or 1933, years after this film's release. (Myrna Loy is just lucky enough to have been in multiple films with multiple talented wire fox terriers.)
