The showrunner Joanna Johnson revealed that they were sure the show would return for season 6, but it was canceled due to budget cuts by Disney and what they already shot would serve as a finale, and that they had a little bit of savings left from Season 5, and she asked to use that money and try to shoot some new scenes to give the long-running show a proper ending. Luckily, she was able to receive a small budget from Disney to do that.
As of season 4, Odelya Halevi left the show due to scheduling conflicts after she landed a regular role on Law & Order - I due volti della giustizia (1990), so Yasmine Aker took over the role of Angelica from her.
