Megumi Han, who played Artesia Som Deiku/Sayla Mass, is the mother of Keiko Han, who had played Lalah Sune in Mobile Suit Gundam (1979).

The majority of the episode an adapts Volume V, Sections I - IV. The opening scene, however, is a heavily condensed version of Volume VII, Section IV to VI which depicts the Battle of Loum. Although MS-06 Zaku IIs were depicted in those chapters, here, only Char and the Black Tri-Stars were shown piloting them, with all other Zeon suits being MS-05 Zaku Is.

The narrator, Akio Ôtsuka, had starred in Kidô senshi Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory (1991) as Anavel Gato, in which was directed by Takashi Imanishi.
