Damien Leone offers an exciting update on Terrifier 4 and what to expect
Image
The fourth (and supposedly final) movie in the bloody slasher franchise Terrifier is officially in development and now director Damien Leone has revealed some more insights into what fans can expect from Art the Clown's next maniacal rampage.

Leone recently attended the Texas Frightmare Weekend (via Collider) and revealed that Art's backstory will be revealed "in the first 15 minutes" of Terrifier 4, while also promising that the fourth entry will not disappoint and be suitably "epic." Those are big promises to make, let's hope Terrifier 4 can live up to its lofty expectations.

Introduced in the horror short The 9th Circle back in 2008, Art the Clown has gone on to cement his place in the world of iconic slashers. The murderous clown has been played by two actors, starting with Mike Giannelli. David Howard Thornton took over the role in 2016, introducing Art to the masses in the first feature-length film Terrifier.

'Terrifier 4' Director Promises To Deliver Huge Revelation in First 15 Minutes
Image
2024 was a big year for horror movies. Longlegs, A Quiet Place: Day One, Smile 2, and Nosferatu were all massive hits at the box office, but there was one movie that stood head and shoulders above the rest: Terrifier 3. Earning back 45 times its budget, Damien Leone's sequel managed to defy all expectations to become one of the biggest horror films of last year, and now, he's promising to give fans what they've been waiting for in Terrifier 4.

Appearing at Texas Frightmare Weekend earlier this month, Leone was asked to give fans a little taste of what they can expect in Terrifier 4 by YouTube content creator Cris Parker, who runs the popular 3C Films channel. Instead of giving people a tiny morsel, Leone provided everyone with a mouthful to chew on, as he revealed that the next sequel will start out with a massive revelation:

Terrifier 4 will tell Art’s backstory in the first 15 minutes
Antonella Rose, Juliana Lamia, David Howard Thornton, Sienna Hubert-Ross, Charlotte McKee, and Elliott Fullam in Terrifier 3 (2024)
At the world premiere of Terrifier 3, franchise writer/director Damien Leone said there will be a Terrifier 4 – and he later said he thinks that will be the last entry in the franchise, because he doesn’t want it to wear out his welcome. (Although he has also said that Terrifier 5 might be required to properly wrap up the story.) We’ve heard that Leone plans to reveal Art the Clown’s origin in the new sequel, and now he has revealed to Cris Parker of 3C Films on YouTube that Art’s backstory will be told in the first 15 minutes of Terrifier 4! So if you’ve been wondering how this guy came to be, you’re going to get the information right up front in the next sequel.

Leone said, “I know this word gets used a lot, but it’s gonna be epic. It’s not gonna disappoint.

Art the Clown’s Origins Revealed in First 15 Minutes of ‘Terrifier 4’
Image
Damien Leone has confirmed that Terrifier 4 will finally give audiences what the franchise has long withheld: the origin of its blood-smeared antagonist, Art the Clown. In a new interview from Texas Frightmare Weekend, the writer-director revealed that the upcoming sequel will open with a definitive account of Art’s backstory, with Leone stating, “You’re going to get Art’s backstory, in the first 15 minutes of the movie.”

The news comes as Terrifier 4 moves through active development, with Leone recently describing the fourth instalment as “epic, horrifying, thrilling, emotional and satisfying.” His comments were made in conversation with YouTube content creator Cris Parker (3C Films), who was covering the horror convention earlier this month.

David Howard Thornton is set to reprise his role as the sadistic mime-like killer, with Lauren Lavera also returning as Sienna Shaw, whose character became a breakout favourite in Terrifier 2. While casting announcements...

‘Terrifier 4’ – Damien Leone Promises Art’s Backstory in First 15 Minutes!
Damien Leone
We’ve seen Art the Clown do a whole lot of killing across three movies in Damien Leone’s gory Terrifier franchise, but we still know very little about the character and how he came to be the nightmare he is today. Leone had recently promised that the upcoming Terrifier 4, however, will “finally reveal Art’s origin,” and he’s doubling down on that promise this week.

In a quick video chat with popular content creator Cris Parker (3C Films over on YouTube), Leone reveals that Terrifier 4 will dish out Art’s backstory right at the beginning of the film.

“I know this word gets used a lot, but it’s going to be epic,” Leone teases. “It’s not going to disappoint. You’re going to get Art’s backstory, in the first 15 minutes of the movie.”

The interview with Leone was conducted at Texas Frightmare Weekend earlier this month,...

Takashi Shimizu
This Terrifying J-Horror Remake Is Now Streaming For Free!
Takashi Shimizu
The early aughts launched a wave of horror remakes, but they’re especially known as an era full of American remakes of Japanese horror classics. One such adaptation is Takashi Shimizu‘s 2004 film, The Grudge, based on the Japanese film Ju-On: The Grudge, which Shimizu directed in 2002. It’s not often the original director is brought on for the American adaptation, so this is a fascinating film even for just that reason.

In the film, “An American nurse living and working in Tokyo is exposed to a mysterious supernatural curse, one that locks a person in a powerful rage before claiming their life and spreading to another victim.“

The Grudge stars horror icon Sarah Michelle Gellar, as well as Jason Behr (Roswell) and Clea DuVall (The Faculty). It was a massive hit upon release, raking in a reported $187.3 million on a $10 million budget. It was released when I was a kid,...

Terrifier 3 slayed the box office last fall with some of the franchise’s bloodiest kills. Art the Clown wasn't messing around as he this time tormented the Christmas season. Director Damien Leone is hard at work writing Terrifier 4, which will be the final chapter of the franchise as we know it. Now, as horror fans wait for Art’s last killing spree, Terrifier 3 is getting a new deadly steelbook.

A Zavvi exclusive, the slasher’s latest 4K/Blu-ray combo pack steelbook comes with some fresh killer Art-work. The front sees Art in his now-iconic blood-soaked Santa Claus costume with a candy red ax in his hands. He's currently patrolling a subway car which was a minor location in the third installment. The back design has another scary image of Santa Art hovering over a Christmas light-filled house on a snowy night. There are no listed special features,...

The 10 Best Horror Movies About Scary Clowns
Image
Horror movies about clowns are their own specific breed of awesome. Some of the best horror movies out there center around the diabolical sweetness -- or lack thereof -- of clowns, so there's no underestimating how truly terrifying they can be within the right circumstances. Sure, there are some truly bad ones out there, but those truly pale in comparison to how much the good ones absolutely rock. One could even argue that the presence of a scary clown automatically elevates any horror movie, but that one might be just a matter of taste at the end of the day.

That said, there's no denying horror is truly a safe haven for the weird and wonderful, and evil clowns definitely fall within those categories. In fact, culture's most memorable clowns call horror their home. Horror allows for audiences to safely explore the antithesis of the joy clowns can conventionally give us,...

‘Dreaming of You’ Trailer – Lauren Lavera Stars in Romantic Comedy with a Shadow Demon
Image
Our favorite horror actors rarely limit themselves to the world of horror and the world of horror alone, and we love to support them when they step outside the confines of the genre. Brad Dourif, for example, makes a guest appearance on Max’s medical drama “The Pitt” alongside real-life daughter Fiona this week, while Lauren Lavera will next be seen in a romantic comedy.

Lauren Lavera has of course made a name for herself here in the horror community as final girl Sienna Shaw in Terrifier 2 and Terrifier 3, and while we wait for Sienna’s return in the upcoming Terrifier 4, Lavera’s next movie offers up something a little different. It’s a romantic comedy titled Dreaming of You, and Coming Soon exclusively debuted the trailer this week.

Fittingly, the film does deal in nightmares, something Lavera knows a lot about!

In director Jack McCafferty’s upcoming Dreaming of You,...

Image
Art the Clown continues to have a blood-soaked spotlight in the horror genre. The killer lead of Damien Leone's indie slasher series Terrifier released its latest insanely gory entry, Terrifier 3, last Fall to a ton of critical acclaim. Leone is hard at work on Terrifier 4. The 'Terrifier' Game Gets a Killer Collector's Edition For Art the Clown
Image
Art the Clown reached a new level of fame last year when he not only starred in the mega-successful Terrifier 3, but also became a playable character in Call of Duty. Image
Art the Clown has become one of the most unexpected and shocking horror icons of modern cinema in the Terrifierfranchise. However, he was around long before he became the record-breaking masochistic killer audiences have come to love in his three movies, but a gut-wrenching moment involving actress Catherine Corcoran and a hacksaw turned him into one of the most unpredictable villains to have graced screens in years. Now, almost a decade after being murdered in the most brutal and graphic way possible, the actress has reflected on her part in making the unrated killer a worldwide phenomenon.

Corcoran is hosting the first episode of Shout! TV’s Double Take on March 21, which features two movies in honor of Women’s History Month, and ahead of that she spoke to ComingSoon about working on Damien Leonie’s Terrifer and how it became something so much more than it was ever meant to be.

'Terrifier' Fans Should Be Excited for the Divisive Slasher 'Screamboat'
Image
As David Howard Thornton continues to gain notoriety for his role as Art the Clown in the popular Terrifier movies, his fans and slasher movie fanatics should book a ticket for Screamboat, a new killer cruise-ride horror movie opening in the U.S. in April 2025. Thornton portrays a murderous version of Mickey Mouse in the subversive slasher movie, building on a new disturbing Disney horror trend after last year's The Mouse Trap.

With obvious nods to Jason Takes Manhattan, a classic slasher on a cruise ship stopping in New York, Screamboat turns a touristy ferry ride into a fiendish and ferocious course through hyperviolent hell. Yet, with Thornton leading the way, Screamboat is the perfect alternative and/or placeholder to keep fans busy until Art the Clown returns for a fourth Terrifier film. All aboard!

'Screamboat's Premise, Explained

Steven Lamorte directed Screamboat from a screenplay he co-wrote with Matthew Garcia-Dunne.

Since bursting onto the genre scene, Damien Leone’s “Terrifier” series has become the most controversial success story in contemporary horror. To some, it’s a revolutionary triumph of low-budget filmmaking that boomed at the box office. To others, it’s an ultraviolent slasher about a killer clown with a fondness for sexual brutality and, in “Terrifier 3,” dead children.

To those paying attention, it’s both.

Now, an ongoing PR disaster for the filmmaker is dividing American audiences even further. On Monday, Leone posted on social media proclaiming that anyone “regardless of their political affiliations” was welcome in the “Terrifier” community so long as they’re “a decent human being.”

By most accounts, the director’s remarks were a thinly veiled response to the progressive online presence of his star evil clown, David Howard Thornton,...

Damien Leone, You Could Not Be More Wrong — All Horror Movies Are Political, Even Your Terrifier Films
Image
No matter what side of the political aisle you fall on, or whether you're an American or not, you have to admit that things have gotten rather interesting of late with the re-election of Donald Trump as the United States President. Trump creates a lot of passion among people. It seems you either love him or hate him, with no in-between. This has led to some controversy in the horror community from the Terrifier franchise of all places. After stars David Howard Thornton and Lauren Lavera divided fans by criticizing Trump, director Damien Leone attempted to calm things down by claiming that his films aren't political. While he may have meant well, his words have caused even more uproar, and his refusal to take a stand made him look weak. He knew what he was doing and just didn't want to get involved, so he took the easiest way out possible.

What Is Art The Clown's True Origin? Terrifier Fans Have Theories
Image
The "Terrifier" films aren't exactly known for being indirect. Creator Damien Leone has created a saga of unrelenting barbarity, with burgeoning horror icon Art the Clown slashing his way across a handful of short films and three features. Indeed, 2022's "Terrifier 2" proved too brutal for even some seasoned horror fans, with reports of walk-outs helping propel the film to relatively impressive box office success. In 2024, Leone continued his mission to depict the most upsettingly graphic kills possible with "Terrifier 3," itself a film that prompted walkouts simply due to a stomach-churning opening sequence.

This a film series that has seen Art the Clown sever a woman in half from the pelvis up, whip a victim with their own intestines, and absolutely decimate the body of a young girl in a scene that happens to represent Leone's favorite kill and which has become the high watermark for unadulterated gore in the "Terrifier" saga.

''Terrifier' Director Called Out for Not Defending Art the Clown Actor
Image
Terrifier director Damien Leone seems to be in hot water right now with some of the franchise's fan base, who are calling him out for refusing to "pick a side" in the current political climate. Recently, Maga enthusiasts have been attacking Art the Clown actor David Howard Thornton on social media for his outspoken views on President Donald Trump and the current administration, which includes Elon Musk. Leone released a statement on Facebook (seen below) in which the director says he's "all for freedom of speech and expression" and didn't get into filmmaking to "become a politician or promote any political agendas."

"I want to make a very important statement regarding the Terrifier franchise in this ugly political climate we’re living in," he began, adding, "As most of you know, some of my cast and crew members have a very passionate political presence on social media with extreme and sometimes harsh opinions,...

Damien Leone confirms that Terrifier 4 will conclude the bloody slasher franchise
Image
Happy birthday to Terrifier creator Damien Leone! In honor of this special occasion, the filmmaker took to X to share a special gift with his fans. The script for Terrifier 4 is officially in the works!

Leone shared a photo of the cover page, complete with some blood splatter. There's not much to go on just yet, but Leone teases that the fourth film in the slasher franchise starring David Howard Thornton as the menacing Art the Clown will be the "most epic, thrilling, nasty, horrifying, emotional and utterly satisfying conclusion."

After Terrifier 3 premiered in theaters last year, Leone mentioned wanting to end the story of Art with the fourth or fifth film. At the time, it sounded like the fourth movie would be the last, though he indicated a fifth one could be necessary if he couldn't finish telling the complete story in just one film. Now it...

Terrifier 4 Will Finally Reveal Art The Clown's Origin Story
Image
After "Terrifier 2" became a surprise hit in 2022, the saga's murderous mute harlequin Art the Clown returned for more bloody mayhem in 2024's "Terrifier 3," one of the nastiest horror movies ever made. Whether you had the stomach to watch Art's unhinged killing spree unfold in that latest installment or not, you have to give it to franchise creator Damien Leone for managing to top the utter depravity of his previous effort.

The director had set a precedent with the first film in the series, 2016's "Terrifier," wherein he did everything he could to advertise the fact that his splatter-fest was not your typical Hollywood slasher. Heck, Art sawed a woman in half from the pelvic region to the head in that movie. Yet somehow every subsequent entry in the saga has managed to up the violence level, leaving fans to wonder how on earth Leone will outdo the barbarity...

Terrifier 4 will find the sweet spot in the balance between plot and gore
Antonella Rose, Juliana Lamia, David Howard Thornton, Sienna Hubert-Ross, Charlotte McKee, and Elliott Fullam in Terrifier 3 (2024)
At the world premiere of the recently released Terrifier 3, franchise writer/director Damien Leone said there will be a Terrifier 4 – and he later said he thinks that will be the last entry in the franchise, because he doesn’t want it to wear out his welcome. (Although he has gone on to admit that Terrifier 5 might be required to properly wrap up the story.) Now, he has taken to social media to declare that he’s determined to find “the sweet spot” in the balance between gore and plot.

In response to an X user writer, “The Terrifier franchise would have been better if it was less plot-based and more kill-based,” Leone wrote, “Man, these guys aren’t making it easy for me are they? It’s either ‘Terrifier has absolutely no plot and is just mindless gore’ or ‘Terrifier has too much plot and not enough gore...

Lauren Lavera is back and being terrorized by a very different kind of demonic force in The Fetus.
