Jackrabbit Media has boarded worldwide sales rights to horror thriller The Death That Awaits and is kicking off talks at EFM this week.

Richard J. Lee makes his feature directorial debut on the feature, which is described as a “spine-chilling journey into the unknown”. Jackrabbit will show first footage to buyers in Berlin.

The Death That Awaits follows a drifter searching for answers to her mysterious past who takes on a job looking after a sick teenager undergoing a mysterious transformation that her family will do anything to stop.

The CW series Stargirl could have had a spinoff, the details of which have been explained by the show's creator. Stargirl, which is based on the character of the same name from DC Comics, premiered in 2020 and ran for three seasons. It followed a teen girl named Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassinger) who finds a staff once owned by the hero Starman and begins to channel its cosmic power.

TVLine sat down with Stargirl creator Geoff Johns for an interview about the series finale, which aired on December 7. During their conversation, he reveals that a storyline in which Jennie Hayden/Jade (Ysa Penarejo) and her twin Todd/Obsidian (Tim Gabriel) were left with Richard Swift/The Shade (Jonathan Cake) to learn how to handle their natural superpowers was intended to be a setup for a spinoff that never came to be. Not only was DC’s Stargirl an apparent casualty of the changes underway at The CW under new owner Nexstar, but a potential spinoff may have been thrown out with the bath water.

Back in Season 2, the DC series introduced the character of Jennie Hayden aka Jade (played by Ysa Penarejo), the daughter of Green Lantern Alan Scott. Having aged out of a group home, Jennie at the time was struggling with her own, recently discovered green energy-based powers, while also wondering where her twin brother Todd had landed.

Just as the Jsa gets wind of an ominous new threat, the team will also get a blast from their recent past, in this Wednesday’s episode of DC’s Stargirl.

Jennie’s long-lost twin brother, Todd, will be found — by someone — now that The CW’s DC’s Stargirl has cast the role of Green Lantern Alan Scott’s son aka Obsidian.

Tim Gabriel, whose previous TV credits include guest spots on S.W.A.T. and a very recent episode of Better Things, will fill the role of Todd Rice, EW.com reports.
