EuropaCorp debuted a behind-the-scenes featurette for the new movie Dracula: A Love Tale, the new Dracula creation from French filmmaker Luc Besson. The movie opens in theaters in France this week – which is why this video is out now to promote the initial opening there. Though there's still no US release date set yet. Written in the 1890s, the old Dracula book follows a nobleman who loses his wife and in his grief and cursing of God is transformed into a vampire. While the original Bram Stoker story leaves on the doomed ship the Demeter, Besson's take will focus on the beginning of Dracula’s life and his relationship with his wife. Caleb Landry Jones (who was also in Besson's DogMan) stars as Prince Vladimir. When his wife is killed, a 15th century prince renounces God and becomes a vampire.

Horror fans are in for a treat this year. After Ryan Coogler’s Sinners doubled down on the vampire genre earlier this year and while we still wait for Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, French filmmaker Luc Bessonis bringing romantic take in Dracula: A Love Tale. The gothic-horror stars Caleb Landry Jones in the titular role and we finally have the first trailer of the upcoming movie.

The trailer recounts a 400-year-old tale, where Dracula loses his life as well as his faith in god, and turns into the creature we know him to be. Centuries later, things take a turn when he finds a woman who looks and feels like his beloved. The movie is inspired by Bram Stoker’s Dracula, but gives us the romantic angel that no adaptation has. The vintage setting, dark tone, and compelling performances make the feature worth waiting for.

What’s ‘Dracula: A Love Tale’ About?...

We first heard about Luc Besson's new take on Dracula starring Caleb Landry Jones as the legendary Transylvanian Count last summer, but updates have been pretty much non-existent since. Now, a first trailer and poster have been released online (via FearHQ.com).

The movie was originally titled Dracula: A Love Tale, and is described as a “a big-budget reimagining” of the vampire's origin story. This latest adaptation of Bram Stoker's classic tale is set to hit theaters on July 30.

“It’s a totally romantic approach,” Besson said of his film in a 2024 interview. “There’s a romantic side in Bram Stoker’s book that hasn’t been explored that much. It’s a love story about a man who waits for 400 years for the reincarnation of his wife. That’s the true heart of the story, waiting an eternity for the return of love.”

A year has passed since we heard that director Luc Besson was making a “big-budget reimagining” of the Dracula concept that will feature “some epic and potentially spectacular set pieces,” and now that film is ready to start making its way out into the world. Besson’s Dracula has yet to secure distribution in the United States, but Snd will be giving it a theatrical release in France on July 30th – and with that date right around the corner, a trailer for the film has dropped online. Exclusive: Apex PR has promoted company executives Darrell Borquez, Polis Groutas, Hayley Wierwille and Corey Kurtzman, effective immediately.

Borquez, who works with clients such as Annette Bening, Paul Bettany, Billy Eichner, Akiva Goldsman, Jenni Konner, Lucasfilm and Vivienne Medrano, has been named Executive Vice President of the firm. He is based in New York City.

Groutas, who handles publicity for clients such as Julianne Moore, Lee Pace, Anya Taylor-Joy, Liv Tyler, Morena Baccarin, Zoe Bleu and Emma Kenney, has been named Vice President. He is also based in the NYC office.

Variety reports that Snoop Dogg is set to star in The Last Man, an original sci-fi movie written and directed by Luc Besson. While the pairing may seem like an odd one, Dogg and Besson have actually worked together before. Dogg voiced one of the main characters in Arthur and the Minimoys, which was released almost 20 years ago.

The plot of The Last Man is being kept under wraps. The only details refer to it as a post-apocalyptic tale believed to be inspired by The Planet of the Apes. Exclusive: Here’s some more intriguing casting for Luc Besson’s big-budget reimagining of the Dracula story, Dracula – A Love Tale.

Zoë Bleu (Gonzo Girl), daughter of actress Rosanna Arquette, is joining as Elisabeta/Mina, while rising Italian actress Matilda De Angelis, who plays the lead in Agbo and Amazon’s upcoming Citadel: Diana, will play Mina’s friend Maria. These are the roles played by Winona Ryder and Sadie Frost, respectively, in Francis Ford Coppola’s 1992 version (though Mina’s friend in that film and the book is called Lucy).

As we revealed in February, Caleb Landry Jones (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri) is playing Dracula and two-time Oscar winner Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds) is understood to be playing the role of a priest.

Lucy and Leon filmmaker and Taken creator Besson is in pre-production on the movie, which will shoot next month in France. Additional casting is underway.

Patricia Arquette is having a “Severance” reunion with a noir twist — in a show you probably haven’t heard of.

The Emmy winner collaborates again with “Severance” and “Escape at Dannemora” director Ben Stiller for Apple TV+ dark comedy “High Desert.” Arquette plays Peggy, an on-again-off-again addict who decides to make a new start after the death of her beloved mother, with whom she lived in the small desert town of Yucca Valley, California, and makes a life-changing decision to become a private investigator.

Matt Dillon, Christine Taylor, Brad Garrett, Weruche Opia, Bernadette Peters, Rupert Friend, and Keir O’Donnell also star in the series. “High Desert” is created and written by Nancy Fichman (“Grace and Frankie”), Katie Ford (“Miss Congeniality”), and Jennifer Hoppe (“Nurse Jackie”), who all also serve as executive producers. Both Stiller and Arquette serve as executive producers.

Jay Roach (“Meet the Parents”) directs all eight episodes of the half-hour series.
